Rankin win Emsley Carr Mile 3.54.24

Some encouraging results especially amongst the women where a real depth is developing at 800m and 1500m.

Rankin (USA) is one that Steve Scott believes can sub-3:50 for the Mile. Solid win for an otherwise unnoticed season.

That puts Rankin at #27 on the American mile list.

he has slowly been building up to a solid year coming off injuries and this is just a great run by him!

He is now as fast as Lunn and Jennings. He is still miles away from Webb and Lagat.

I was there at the race last night. This guy looked awesome, could hopefully be one to watch out for over the coming years!

The US needs another top miler in case Lukezic and Myers burn out. If and when Rankin gets down to 3:50 for the mile the US will probably be the world's top mile running nation.

Rankin and Alice Schmidt are being coached by Joaquim Cruz. They both have been having solid seasons this year.

Good for him, he hasn't been consistent, but has shown some good ability. It'd be good to have another 3:50 guy. I definitely root for him.

Manzano was born in the US right? And Lomong wasn't exactly a professional selling out to Qatar! Either way, here's hoping you'll be a great American miler Mr. Rankin.

I think Lukezic is still better than everyone other than Lagat and Webb even though he hasn't done much this year. He has run 3:33 and I think is the 9th fastest American ever at that distance, was 7th at World Indoors and just missed the final of World Champs in 2005 and he is a year younger than Rankin and a year older than Manzano.

Has anyone else noticed that lukezic is kind of a pussy, he rarely if ever runs anything outside of the mile/1500, even in college he seemed this way. Why doesn't he grow a pair like his buddy webb, all the other great runners are trying numerous events, he needs to start thinking of himself as a runner and not just a miler.

I don\'t know how much of a factor this is in his decision not to run farther on the track, but he does suffer from some pretty serious asthma.
