I should know this but don't: Where are WRs posted?

these are the top lists for IAAF accredited events, but there isn't an 8k on there, sorry

the world record for 8k is by paul tergat en route to his 10k world record.
I thought it was 22:00?
there is no 8k world record, but there is a world best. the 8k is only run on the roads and in xc so it won't be as legit as if it were on the track. i might be wrong but i think eluid kipchoge has it

you are wrong. Paul tergat has it.
Kenenisa went through 8000m in 21:04.63 during his 10000m world record run in 2005 (21:08.94 in his 2004 record run).
I've been told, but I'm trying to confirm, that Ismael Kirui of Kenya set the 8K WR on May 2, 1993, with a 22:02.
Could that be true?

You are wrong. Tergat split 21:15 in his WR 10,000m race in Brussels in 1997. Geb then split 21:12.92 in his race in Hengelo the next year. As someone else noted above, Bekele has now improved that time twice, first with a 21:08.94 in 2004, then with 21:04.63 in 2005.
Githuka holds the road record at 22:03.
Notable 8000m splits in a track race:
21:04.63 Kenenisa Bekele Brussels
21:08.94 Kenenisa Bekele Ostrava 06/08/2004
21:12.92 Haile Gebrselassie Hengelo 06/01/1998
21:15 Paul Tergat Brussels 08/22/1997
21:17.01 Haile Gebrselassie Brussels 09/05/2003
21:17.60 Haile Gebrselassie Oslo 07/04/1997
