I apologize in advance if this topic is too delicate for this forum... I do hope this gets some serious and helpful answers, but I know that the topic itself is going to attract some digressive posts.
Anyway... I assume this issue is one that all of us deal with. I am a former Div I runner and have been coaching high school CC and track for many years. I have seen some unfortunate "mismanagement" let's say of eating habits that result in embarrassment and of course disappointment. (And of course I have personally experienced it too!) I am simply wondering what are some of the methods you use to make sure you don't have "issues" during a race or a run. Obviously knowing your body (how it reacts to certain foods, how long it takes to digest food, etc.) is what I preach to my runners. What types of pre-race foods have worked for you? How many hours do you eat before a big race/workout? You coaches out there -- do you talk about this with your team or is it just one of those topics we all think about but don't bring up?
Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.
