The add just states that you have to pay shipping and handling. Pay only $19 shipping and handling for a $230 pair of shades? I suppose it couldn't hurt, but wanted to see if anyone else out there tried it and that there is no other catch. Anyone? |

The catch is the glasses are crappy. They're about the quality of your local walgreens sunglasses. |

Really? From the add it sounded like they were fairly new to the market. And do they really charge that much for the glasses at retail? |

Jesus, what kind of an idiot are you? If you pay $19 shipping and handling, they're $19 shades! You think that isn't enough to make a profit?! I hope the OP was a troll... |

He's trolling bigtime, just like that other idiot that tries to hawk sunglasses here and has 25 post in a thread with 23 of them being his. Pay wejo or sell your shit somewhere else. |

I placed an order for 6 pieces yesterday... and quite stupidly read some customer opinions about this company AFTER I had placed the order... a BIG no no (duh'!).. So after I had read all the opinions and how cheaply these shades are built et.c. I decided to cancel the order by phone (no email on their site..). I talked to someone called "Donna" who told me to call in 24-48 hours since the order hadn't been processed through their system. So I called the following day around the same time to see how things were going. Again it seemed that the order hadn't come through, but I learnt a new about this company's return policy... they have none. Once you have placed an order it's impossible for them to cancel it.. no matter how fast you are..Honestly.. I was kinda impressed more than angry. I'm not sure if I should call them crooks or smart business people. Bottom line.. like someone said: You get what you pay for. |

I have before. I love them. I've beat the crap out of them for over a year and they still look brand new, the hinges are tight, and the lenses are great. Not a scratch. |

I purchased Optek sunglasses over 15 years ago based on an ad I saw in an airline magazine. They were something like $170 to $225 sunglasses which were being introduced over the next few months in major stores, etc. Just pay shipping/handling and fill out a survey, etc. The whole bit. They weren't terrible, but they weren't great either. The optics of the lenses couldn't compare to a real brand (at the time). A few years later I saw the ad again, about them being introduced into stores shorly. In fact, I even got an ad for them in one of my race bags a few years back. I am pretty sure it's the same company, just they changed their name around. They are cheap, and durable or not, just realize you will never see them sold in stores, especially at the prices they say they will be selling at. |

I responded to the ad in the June issue of Runners World. Just got my pair today. They're OK. They would never sell for the prices advertised. The lenses are inexpensive plastic. But, I have a 4 year old who has trashed my last two expensive pairs so I'll wear these as long as they hold up. Go to REI online and the $20-$35 shades there are of better quality. |

Yes I have and I called them. Evidently when you buy them you are automatically signed up for their program where they mail you "complimentary" sunglasses of their new product. They are not free because they charge your credit card shipping and handling. You need to call them to have your name removed. |

i just bought a pair of them from an ad that i got in my race packet for a marathon. If you read closely when checking out, they ask you if you want to subscribe to the complementary pairs of sunglasses every 2 months. If you read what you are getting into you just select NO and its over. They send the sunglasses, end of deal. It's not a scam if it's your own fault for not reading what you're agreeing to. |

It's not a scam - the glasses arrive on time and at the advertised prices. The problem is that they are lousy quality. I ordered two pairs and they both fell apart within 10 days. |

There should be laws for misrepresenting the true Fair Market Value of products. But if something is an opinion and not a fact, it's unfortunately LEGit. IMO The FTC federal trade commission should get on these f*ckers You know how you see those ads on TV with the blue and yellow writing that say "and if you call within the next 5 minutes, we'll throw in the _____, a $60 dollar value!!!! all yours for just $13.95" The true fair market value is not even CLOSE to $60. You have to wonder where the heck they are getting these fair market values. IMO The FTC federal trade commission should get on these f*ckers |
