updates.....please
well???
KD FTW
Symmonds in 2nd
Robinson puts together too big of a lead... Symmonds began driving from 300m out, but he was too far out. Robinson looked TOUGH. Good race!!
Robinson
Symmonds
Solomon
Robinson 1:44.7?
Symmonds
USC guy
Lomong 4th or so
robinson looked really good. was it just me or did he not acknowledge symmonds congratulations?
Robinson wins in 1:44.37, leading the whole way basically, coming through 1 lap in about 51.1. Symmonds came through in second to last after one lap, and made up a lot of ground, but Robinson had too big of a lead. Great race though. Duane Solomon was third, Lomong was 4th or 5th.
Lomong looked upset at the end about something , did he get bumped or something????
solid race for Lomong... probably under 1:46
He's going to be something special in the 1500 for the next few years. Has the range and certainly has the speed
And again we had to deal with the announcers who had often seen Symmonds be hyped up in the week leading up to the race so much that they completely ignore Robinson after his win. Robinson pretty much blew Symmonds off afterwards as well.
I know he was down the field but Lomong coupling his 1.45 pace with his endurance he has demonstrated during the NCAA season. Not sure if it is in his plans but I would imagine a 3.33/34 1500 is well within his reach

Yeah, he totally snubbed him, and it wasn't like Symmonds gave a breathless "good job". He was patting him on the back and everything.
Yeah he snubbed Symmonds right there at the finish, but then gave him props during the post race interview.

Agreed, be blew him off. Robinson was looking for his time when Symmonds came up to him I think, but at the same time, he did blow him off. A little lame, but on the other hand, he clearly didn't like being temporarily supplanted as top US 800 guy after Symmond's big race where he beat Robinson and Borza, and he was sending a message both with his victory and attitude to Symmonds that he is still the top dog. Again, a little lame, but competition is competition, and people get a little attitudy sometimes. (and Robinson's snub was minor compared to some stuff I've seen).

Well, he did get fourth, barely.
Fifth
He's probably pissed about Symmonds' comment talking about the 800 being our weakest event. I don't know the exact quote, but he was alluding to the lack of depth in the 800, right?

Lomong clearly was defeated and surprised that he did not qualify!!!
granted KD clearly didn't watch the NBC coverage while he was running, but if i were him, after watching the replay i'd be pretty pissed. sure symmonds is exciting to watch because he bounces around the field so much during the race, but come on, KD is a very established 800 meter runner and the coverage was entirely focused on symmonds. even the guy who started this thread said lomong v. symmonds (perhaps that was a joke?).
KD may be getting older, and symmonds did get one very impressive win, but to forget KD's long string of success in the 800 or to put him behind a relative flash in the pan (so far) like symmonds has got to be quite insulting for KD.
and a wire to wire 1:44.37 is a very good time.
In terms of 800-meter snubs, Hazel Clark's to Alysia Johnson was far worse
