If I ran for 24 straight hours.... I would feel like the biggest idiot in the world and think that I just completely killed a day off my life.
Haha, I suppose I don't like running THAT much.

Ok, this is more fun than the DK stuff.....
Are you saying that if I said to you, "You know you would take the money and publicity in DKs shoes", you would just start shoving your finger in a complete stranger's chest???? Do you do that sort of thing alot?
I have no idea what "alot" means, but the answer is no because no stranger assumes to know whether I would sell-out. If he did assume something so asinine, then I wouldn't hesitate to do that. You think it isn't "pretty aggressive" to question a "stranger" like that? You'd have asked for anything I felt like doing if you did that. I think it's funny that you're stupid enough to not realize a few things about your own actions, but you are in good company with your naivete here. Ask yourself your own final question, my obtuse friend.
US official record from USATF for a 24 hour road race is 162.45 miles. Don't know what "treamill" record is, but it should be easier to run faster on a treadmill without any head wind -- at least at the paces this guy is doing.
So his 128.75 miles is 79.2% as good as the US record. If the US record was the world record (it's likely not) then running below 80% means he isn't even a "national class" 80-90% runner.
We know he doesn't compare to the US's best 10K/marathon runners, but he isn't even close to the US's top 24 hour runners. If he beat some "treadmill" record, it is only because serious 24-hour runners wouldn't waste their time on a treadmill. This guy is a sham.
Please, someone send an email to the companies that are sponsoring Dean. Ask them to look at the letsrun.com thread on this. I certainly wouldn't buy any product sold by any of Dean's sponsors. If they mis-label this guy, then are also likely mis-labeling the products they sell and are not to be trusted.
By the way running 79.2% of the US men's 10k track record (27:14) is like running a 34:23 10K (5:32 pace) on the track. That's converting his 24 hour performance into a 10K track performance. Pretty shabby. A few top HS girls can do better than that!!
His sponsors wouldn't care. I'm sure he isn't misleading anyone and I'm sure his sponsors know he isn't the fastest out there. 1) He looks normal (not 6'0, 140lbs skeleton) 2) He is a businessman (runs/owns his own whole foods bran and 3) He can do things most mortal men can't (run 50 marathons in 50 days, "run" for 24 hours on a treadmill, run a 200mile relay alone).
He's done more successful marketing for himself in the last couple of years than USATF or IAAF has done for decades. That's just a sick reality of the situation. It's not Geb, Culpepper, Abdi, Webb or even Jurek or Carpenter in Times Square on a treadmill. It's freaking Deano!

What's a real runner? Scott Jurek is not a real runner? Matt Carpenter is not a real runner? Riiightt...
lol, there's actually an Accelerade ad on this page.
This has got to set a record for the most posts in a single thread in a 24 hour period.
I just sent an email to the company from the initial link asking why they lie to their customers and asked why they dont back a proper runner?
128.75 miles: very poor run over 11 minute miling and more than 19 miles short of his PB 3 years ago.

Judging by how many posts there are on this if I were them I would tell you to shove it. Quite clearly it was a marketing success, even though he failed miserably.
The website reports that he ran the equivalent of 5 marathons "one shy of the record" (153.76 miles). At first I thought they meant one mile shy of the record and then I realized that he was 1 marathon shy of the record.

The thermometer was at 79 degrees yesterday afternoon. Anyone who's actually done any endurance running (including Dean himself) could have predicted that he was going to come up short. He may or may not be capable of breaking that record (and breaking the record may or may not have value in anyone's view), but yesterday it wasn't going to happen.

Uh, "sick reality"?? He's a cheap hack, two things I'd never want associated with the actual sport.
Also check out Badwater and Western States. Hasn't he not only competed in, but won both of these races?
he has only won Badwater....not Western States
Yes he has - but he hasn't won western states. Unfortunately the other competition for the "best American runner" is too stiff.
According to the AP, "His next goal is to run 4,200 miles across North America in the spring."
As Karno knows better than any other stunt runner, while you have the cameras trained on you as you fail one self created bizarro challenge, make sure you plug you plug the next one as something bigger and better (without suggesting that, too, will not likely happen).
I can't believe we're still talking about this but.....
Here is the difference between your hypothetical "finger-poking" and my hypothetical "sell-out accusation". My behavior is not a physical violation of another person's personal space. It is not physically threatening in any way. It may be offensive and/or annoying, but not threatening.
You, on the other hand, would take the encounter to a whole new level by putting your hands on me. That's something I would probably tolerate if you were someone I knew fairly well. But since I don't know you it's a whole other ballgame. A stranger touching me aggresively while he raises his voice is something I would consider threatening. If you were simply yelling at me and cursing I would probably yell and curse back, but I wouldn't consider taking it to a physical level. Clearly it is you who would first extend the invitation into that realm. Apparently you aren't into using words in an arugment. You prefer using physical means to prove your point, given the face-to-face opportunity. Fair enough.
Oh, and one more thing. The thing that makes my original accusation even less threatening, is that is wasn't personal. I said "every single one of you", referring to everyone on the board. Although I did imply that each and every last person on this board would sell-out, I didn't single out any individual and say "you, Mr. disprover of your claim, would sell out, you rat bastard bitch".
Obviously when I said "every single one of you" I was generalizing too much. I know as well as anyone that there are exceptions to the rule and there are actually people out there who would not sell-out their integrity for fame and money. When you say, "No I would not", I believe you. I really do. But I would still be pissed if you took a non-threatening conversation to a physical level.
