Still cool? They were cool?
I just listened to Crackedrearview last week. Love that stuff.
Really, they never were cool to start with.
No
who?
I guess that answers your question than haha
No. Saw a sign that they were doing a show for a volunteer fire department in southern Maryland. Joked to my woman as we drove past, "that's worse than doing a state fair"
they were cool if you lived in Columbia, SC in the early 90s before they hit it, and experienced the many humid, Natural Light induced evenings filled with their music and the stupid-beautiful USC girls at the bars around campus.
killer joke! was your woman impressed?

It should also be noted that they did a benefit concert in Columbia in 95 the night before the US women's marathon championships. The proceeds went to funding the women's marathon trials the next year. That's good in my book.
Screw it, I like hootie. so, ok, all of their songs sound the same but so do alot of bands. its a pretty good tune.
So, with my 'yes' vote, i think the score is 4-1.

They are SO COOL!
You know what else I like? Have you seen that show called Friends? It's pretty cool, too!
No
The drummer is a pretty fair runner. under 34:00 for 10k's i think.
That said why would they stop playing and recording? You guys have no idea how much "state fairs" pay for acts like hootie. my neighbors had a few hits in the early to mid 90's and they make 3-5K$ playing small hole in the wall bars. They got paid 15K$ to play outside a cubs game a few years back for 40min.
Good for Hootie...easy to crack on but didnt cracked rear view sell tens of millions of albums?
"I Will Wait" is my ultimate guilty pleasure song... that and Jewel "Standing Still"

I really love Hootie. No, they're not cool but it's ok. They're actually so uncool that there's no danger of anyone thinking that you're TRYING to be cool by listening to them. We all know that the only real sin is trying to be cool and failing.
I have them on my IPOD somewhere (on my 90s playlist). I feel I should be embarrassed by that, but I must admit that when those songs come on every once in a while I find myself singing pretty loud without even realizing it. They had some catchy tunes.
they are a good band and they always put on a good show.. i'm not sure they were ever "cool" in the sense you are talking about, but they never tried to be cool. i remember one music video they made playing bball with various NBA players... they seem to be out to just play their music and have a good time, and they have accomplished that and more.
now they are hitting up (atleast in atlanta) the upscale concert venues like chastain... tickets are expensive because older people (like my dad) like their music and can afford 50 dollar seats.
well, they're no Huey Lewis and the News...
I got arrested at a Hootie concert last year.
