Question:
Did Summerside red-shirt and decide to run Pro meets due to a college/NCAA deal, or did he consciously want to spend the year running the Pro circuit?
Because he's running like a Pro this year.
As far as I know, he exhausted the remainer of his eligibility this fall during cross country season and is running professionally now
On the surface, without any in depth knowledge, it appears that he made some major jump in April of 2007. From '05 to '06 his gains were very modest; but Ka-boom, he's flying now. Maybe this is the first time he's been fully healthy for a while.

Go back to his days at UMKC and chart that improvement... Just a few years ago this guy was a 15:30 5k guy.

fam was toying with everyone in the filed and made that look easy. i bet he breaks the american record for 2 miles at the prefontaine meet and goes sub 13 for 5k by season's end. will probably also drop his 1500 pr down to 3:33, mark my words-he is about to kill it.

We are talking about the same guy who got ass-r#ped by Willis at that NY mile meet right. I may agree with a sub 13 5k, but a 3:33 1500, he would need to jump on Willis' back to accomplish that.
Fam ran 3:35 high last year. With the improvements he's already shown this year, you have to believe it is feasible for him to break 3:34. Hard to put limitations on him after this spring.
He's more likely to run 3.33 than sub-13.
Is Fam even going to make an attempt to go sub 13 this summer? as far as i know, his focus is still the steeple, despite showing great performances at other distances(27:37, 13:11, 3:55/3:35). However, he has been looking pretty good so early in the season, but he looked pretty good early in the season last year when he ran is 10k pr. Let's wait to see if he can set a PR after the month of June before we start claiming that he will be able to run sub 13 and 3:33. I doubt he gets his 1500m PR below 3:34, but if and when he does, it seems like he would be able to get to the 13:00 barrier.
Adam Goucher is in pretty good shape right now too. 3:37 is no 3:35, but it's still May and he was able to finish close behind some good runners. I wonder what his closing 200m was? He also ran 3:56 a week or two ago. I'd like to see him and Fam go head to head at 5000m. Does anyone have any idea of Fam is going to stick with the 3kSC for the USATF trials/wc's?

Fam will always return to the steeplechase because its the easiest team for him to make. After Lincoln, Slattery has been making teams and Fam just worked him over by 13 seconds while messing around. I wish he'd get with Teg and go after sub-13 instead of another year of 8:17 steeplechasing.
