you mean other than Teg, right?
or is it Fam that you meant to say??

Would that be the same Fam who managed to produce a nice, big "DNF" in Rupp's 27:33 10,000m race?
i'd say you'd have to break 4 or the equivilent in 1500 before talking about breaking 13. I don't think he has the speed.
V02 Max - yes, speed & and anerobic capacity no.
Right now his PR is 13:37? he has got a long way to go.
And the same Fam whose PR for 5K is nearly 20 seconds faster than Rupp\'s?
I think Teg will crack it this summer. Not sure about Rupp, but after 27:33, he\'ll drop a lot of time from his 13:30. I dunno if Fam will drop much from 13:11. Will the Gouch be able to go under 13:10? Will Webb attempt a 5K later this season?

13:30, and there's no doubt that he could go sub-4. Still, I'm with you, I don't think he'll be the first, in fact I don't think he'll do it at all. Sub 27 for 10K looks pretty likely though.

Perhaps so, but which of those significant accomplishments happened several days ago in a head-to-head race?
The point I am trying to make is that Alk3's trash-talking is guilty of extremely poor timing, to say the least. What's next? Bragging about the Chicago Bears, or maybe even Ohio State's basketball team? LoL!
i think he can break 13, but others will do it before him
Has Lagat already broken 13?
Here is my list
Lagat
Teg
Webb
Abdi
Ansom?
Fam
Ritz
Goucher
Hall - down four notches because i cant see him dropping down and running at that level.
Rupp will not break 13.00, you guys don't realize how good that actually is. Tegenkamp got 3.35 1500m to his credit, so you would need a 3.34 to break 13 in terms of speed. Rupp got the endurance but not that kind of speed needed.
I think he can break 13.10 but thats it.
Agreed. Rupp, Ritz, Goucher, and Hall will never break 13:00 for 5k. They simply lack the raw footspeed. Webb will be our best 5000 hope if he trains for it; he has 12:55 or better kind of potential.

Is Lagat an American?
Yes lagat is American and yes he has broken 13
If you dont know if Lagat is an American, (be it by birth, or naturalaization) you dont have any reason to be on the massage board. You the the most ignorant American I have seen here ! period.

I concur with you.....I think he is a possible 13:10 guy at best.
I have a feeling Lagat will beat Rupp to sub 13 as well.

NY runner just stop talking. Please. Please. "Ansom", I think you mean Bolota Asmerom who just finished four seconds behind two college kids you did not list. I know you hate Nike and Rupp, but he is good. Not sub 13 good yet, but better then Asmerom. Also Abdi has no shot in hell, and since you are just tossing ever name in the world out there why don't you say Meb or Brian Sell. You are a joke kid.
I have a feeling Lagat already did (12:59, last year, look it up)
However, this thread said Rupp will be the next American to do it. I disagree. I think Teg and Webb both have better shots of doing it before Rupp. Rupp is fast enough to break 13, but I don't think he'll do it for a couple of years, his PR will probably be in the 13:10-13:15 range by my estimation. Webb is certainly fast enough, but I think he is going to focus on the mile until he at least has the AR (which won't be too long, I give it 2:1 odds that he has the AR by September). Teg, I think, has the best shot of doing it. 13:04 last year... haven't seen much from him this year, but I'm hoping that means he is saving up for the summer. If Teg has a good year, he probably has the best shot to be the next to join the sub-13 club.
I think Lagat will break BKs record this year if he concentrates on the 5k. Not by much, but I think he should be capable of running 12:55ish if all goes well.
If I making the list up b/c I hate Nike then why did it put Lagat, Webb, Asmerom who are all Nike guys near the top??
Asmerom has run a faster 5k and 1500 then rupp
Abdi has run a faster 5k and 10k than rupp
you are joke, stfu
i stand by my first post that you have to run well under 4 or its 15 equivlent to have a shot. thats why Lagat, Teg, and Web are where they are. Teg being more a 5ker is why I put him ahead of Webb.
