Creatine to help Tendonitis? 4/23/2007 1:32PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I have Posterior Tibial Tendonitis, and a new tendonitis brewing in my other leg, lateral side. My muscles have felt "tight" and "hard". I stretch a lot. I drink water and fluids. I eat well.

I had this idea that my tendonitis is caused by dehydrated muscles. This is sort of a Myofascial Pain sort of idea. So I thought of taking Creatine and welcoming the side effect of waterlogged muscles.

Has anybody done this? Heard about it?

I took 10g total yesterday for the first time in several years. I felt a little strange, like a subtle body flush/rush. I ran expecting total pain this morning. My feet feel better… at least much better than expected. Luck? Coincidence? I have been dealing with this pain long enough to know what should have happened.

Sounds like an interesting idea, have no clue whether it's a good one or not though.

sound like a fair amount of crap, tendinitis has many causes
of which you state dehydration, could be bad shoes, bad biomechanics, overuse, too much oxalic acid in your diet
all sort of stuff. Only & "ine" for tendinitis but i think
Percutalgine is pretty much on the old nono list now.

BTW, I rested two weeks and I felt pain in the morning, especially, and throughout the day during that time. I have done rest periods several times with similar results.

you're icing it up i presume, about 2x30 minutes each day?
What does the doc say about it,what has he given you to
decrease the inflamation??

Did the ice thing for 1-2 weeks. Didn't really help. I have seen 4 doctors. Two podiatrists (both runners one avid), one sports doctor (runner 41 years), and one Chiro/ART/Graston person (sports type chiro). The Chiro helped most with the soft tissue work. Better, but still pretty painful. I have done the ibuprofin and the cortisone things. Cortisone removed the pain, but it came back which was not suprising to the second podiatrist. I am still taking protiolitic enzymes, systemic and topical.

strange, when it comes back like that there's usually some mechanical cause but if you've already seen specialist doctors i really don't know what else you can do. I've heard of cases where recurrent tendon problems come from
biomechanical differences which effect the tendon trajectories and they run where they shouldn't but the doctors would have gone down those paths so what to suggest!!
I've heard of chronic tendon problems cured with magnets
taped to them but don't know the full case history. In any
case they be too intrusive on foot problems.
