this should quiet down FPW (ok, prob not him but...) and others who keep yapping their traps about hall and jax and psycothisthat and whatnot.
Can you believe it ladies and gentlemen, the kid has his head screwed on straight! who'da thunk it.

Why'd you change your name to post again, dude?
good to see him address some of the mental issues he faced at GRR and WILL face in the future. seems like something meb has learned to handle, look at the half champs, he gets beat by two guys who, while they are very good athletes, meb would usually spank both of them when he is on. he doesn't let it get him down and comes back to win GRR again. shows good mental stability, which hall sounds like he is trying to learn. good for him, when he does i think he could be even better than meb.
It says he caught a 15-foot trout.
Of course, it could be an error. I have an old colleague who once had a 1/12 scale model of Stonehenge built that got trod upon by dwarves.
Wow, he caught a 15 foot trout.
Amazing!!!
Talk about an American Record!!!!!
At least Hall's truly discontented (is that a word??) when he's not running great or not beating great runners. Not that I want him shutting it down when he's having an off-day though.
Hall's insane! Thinking the 15k AR was going to be cake after a week that included 35 miles of hard running. Does he actually have a coach? Or was lowering his expectations just not possible?
But in hind sight I didn't really understand why I could not pr every indoor race during college while training through the indoor season.
the 35mi hard was the week of feb 26-mar 4, not the immediate week going in to jacksonville. i would assume that he did a moderate week to recover from all that hard mileage and ready himself for the 15k. and yes, apparently he does indeed have a coach.
He is amazing! Wow! I respect and admire him so much! Go Ryan!!!
where is flagpole?
We taught him well.
Our best runner lives in a mobile home! Prefontaine is so inspirational!
Seriously, how much would something like that go for monthly?
Ryan is obviously a very humble young man who can take criticism for what it's worth and use it as a positive influence. We think of elite runners as machines who should be motivated 100% of the time, but the fact is that most of their time is spent training in relative isolation and it's interesting to hear Ryan mention how important a little encouragement can be.
Nice blog.
Deena's is also fun. Click on her March 4 entry for a mind boggling rundown of that week's training.
One problem with her current entry - she says the picture is of her coming down the Hart Bridge at mile 8. It's actually a picture of her on the Main Street Bridge just after mile 1.
because that's hesch for you baby.
Who you callin' stupid?? yer lucky my knee's buggered or i'd come over and kick yer donkey tail all over that godforsaken desert!!! :)
dude-
I liked this part:
Bests of the week: Waking up in our new mobile home on Thursday morning and the random encouragement I received throughout the week. One day when I was out putting in some miles, feeling a little lonely and tired, a random person stopped his walk to cheer me on. Then, a couple of miles later a person walking out of Taco Bell yelled some encouragement. Later in the week, I was doing some strides when an elderly lady with a serious look on her face told me, "You're faster than a horse!" A little encouragement from complete strangers can go a long way.
My first though on hearing about Hall's GRR was that he is in the middle of some heavy training, and that blog confirmed that. Arguably, Meb is in the same situation, but he laid back early in the race, and ran to win rather than for the record, plus he has a lot of marathon prep in him from previous years. Hall is bound to have more negative reactions to the new workload.
Now if he'd just turn down his "witnessing"(although this blog was refreshingly free of such), I'd be a huge fan, but that's just me.
