but even a sub 28 10K does not equal the 6th fastest half marathon in history...I am more interested in seeing how the marathon goes for Hall.

That plus the fact there are hills and a lot of turns, different day. YOu can't always be on close to world record pace.
What happened to Hall? He is an amazing runner. THe only guy who beat him won this always very competitive race the last FIVE times he ran it and got an Olympic silver medal in the last Olympics! Give Hall a break!

well, it was mid 60's and humid with no clouds here today -- not perfect conditions. If you remember, much of the Houston race was run before sunrise.

it was probably 70+ by the middle of the race. i ran it and it was warm and humid and sunny. these conditions were not as good as when hall ran houston where it wasn't as hot and even had some rain. also, there was some wind today, but not much.

something interesting that I observed: Dan Browne dropped out or started jogging before 10k. he was just jogging on the side of the road. don't know if he was a pacer or what. first and last time in my life that i will ever pass dan browne in a race!

last observation: considering the conditions, that was an AMAZING run by Deena. it hurts to get beat by a girl, but wow, i give her my respect.

For a man who ran as fast as Hall did in the 1/2 marathon, 27:45-27:55 will be a disappointment. imho

I *think* the above poster was trying to say that the 10k at Stanford would be slow because he's in hard training. At least two people seemed confused by that post.

Maybe Hall had an off day, was sick and will be back another day. But people should quit trying to sugarcoat what was a disappointing race. He just lost to Meb, whom he beat by 2 minutes not long ago. It isn't bashing, but just being realistic. His race was disappointing. Go ahead and criticize me, but at least you'll bash me for being upfront.

Meb and Deena are on hard training cycles also. If Hall lost at the end, but was strong enough to pace throughout, that'd be fine. But he couldn't keep up... and that's not the 59:43 runner we saw. I just hate when these "watch dogs" bash anyone with any negativity, even if it's honest opinion.

Meb absolutley got trounced by Hall in the half. Meb also won Gate the last 5 times he ran it, has an olympic silver and the us 10km record, has won the 8km a few times as well. I would have been stunned had Hall beaten Meb on what was his home course having run it so often. Meb ran a 61:20 half on a tough course last year in NYC narrowly losing to Narokyi. My point is only that the half against Hall was the outlier by any careful analysis and not the other way around. Hall was on fire but didn't look like he was peaking for gate based on his posted recent training. I don't think he should be disappointed.
