Webb split 3:36 I think in his 3:53 mile, something like that anyway, but that was when he was 18.
AJ Acosta ran 3:45 his senior year, when he was 18.
The key is long term improvement. I wonder what his training is like.
Oh yeah,
Alan Webb beat Jim Ryun's sophomore prep record of 4:07 to run 4:06, but that was for the mile.
I think a 4:06 mile would convert to like a ~ 3:48 1500m, give or take a second, and that was when he was 16. So, it sounds like this kid has some serious talent. I hope he knows what to do with it.

You are forgetting the Kenyan +5 rule. You add 5 years to the age they claim...so really Josephat is 21.
Maybe that's why I wrote "I DOUBT IT!!!!!!!" at the end of my post.
"And since the NZ education is that much better, he'll probably do just fine, at most schools, academically too."
Shut up. New Zealand? Where is that again?
here's the account of his 3:46.98:

he split 338 and change and closed had. His 353 is equal to a 336 but he did not run 3363
Who is the youngest runner to go sub-4:00/3:42? Anyone have a link to single-age records?
Bowden ran 1.54 for 800 when he was 14 so he's not far behind Sullivan! The 3.46 was an 11 sec improvement so he's still only just finding his feet at 1500/mile.
That's kinda insane.
Just an update, just happened this month and this weekend, so after this conversation.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway, 16 years old
At Pre in Eugene ran 3:58.07 mile, the record for 16 year old, he was timed at 3:40 at the 1500m
In Oslo just ran 3:56.29 for the mile, still 16
3 days later, this last weeken, 3:39 and change for the 1500m just 3 days after his 3:56 mile
having read this old thread the question remains whatever happened to Dallas Bowden?
3.46 at age 16,is super quick, very much top class in that age group.he could go to college anywhere in the usa,but thing is,does he want to?he might prefer to go to australia to train,or stay in nz.

Since this thread is from 2007, he is now 26 y.o. and thus too old for the NCAA system...
Pretty sure that he also retired many years ago.
