I had thought there was no way he could be innocent, but the details are very strange.

This is a GOOD read!!
whenever I see trevor grahams name in anything I think BS.
Nothing new here.
Seriously, what is so interesting about all of this? Sounds like a very far fetched yet imaginative conspiracy theory. No surprise that Old Runner Guy is eating it up.
when all else fails, blame whitey.
Passage fromt he article ...
The case has attracted the attention of federal investigators, according to several sources, and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has allowed an unusual extension to give Gatlin's lawyers time to assemble their client's defense.
----
This is new ... you did not know federal investigators were looking into the case. No one did until this story.
It shows you're bias or that you did not read the story, which is often the case.
Since you trolls want to yet again make it about me, do I think Gatlin was sabotaged .... no. But with the Feds looking into it, Gatlin will not be able to claim sabotage, like Johnson, for the next 20 years. If they find nothing, case closed and good luck with the Houston texas.
whetstine. thats the answer.
what do all of these characters stand to gain buy saying this about whetstine?
We all know what Graham is up to, but Whetstine has something very important that he knows.

And now we'll find out. The Feds have unlimited resources and the power of search warrants. Something that a private citizen like Gatlin does not have.
They must think their is something here otehrwise the Fed would not be investigating and USADA would not give them time to do it.
So, what is it that they are looking for? Is it evidence that Gatlin was sabotaged or is it that Whetstine knows some else, as Obvious suggests? What is that somehting else?
Thoughts?
Side question, how does WADA's "strict liability" rules work in a case of sabotage? I don't know.
why would a guy use one of the most easily detected roids at such a rinky dink meet??? it makes no sense, and since it was topical, someone could have easily rubbed it on him in a foreign country. i do know he sees foreign masseuses often..

I read this article yesterday and I agree that there is something just not right about this story. We are so conditioned to the belief that cheating is ubiquitous that our reflex instinct is to assume guilt when an athlete has a positive test. End of story. No matter what he or she says, they are lying.
In a world where innocent men are on death row, it simply cannot be assumed that there are no flaws in the PED testing protocol. This might be a case where the athlete has a legitimate excuse.
From the article:
Cedric Walker, USA Track and Field's former relay program manager, said he observed Whetstine working on sprinter Shawn Crawford and Gatlin after a training session in Lawrence. Walker said he noticed that after Whetstine finished with Crawford he reached in his bag for a different cream to rub on Gatlin.
"All I saw was the massage therapist go into a bag and bring out something else," Walker said. "He rubbed something else on Justin. . . . It was right there in front of me. It wasn't what he used on Shawn."
... Graham said he asked Whetstine what was in the tube and that Whetstine refused to tell him, stuffing it into his pocket. As Graham tried to grab the tube, Graham recalled, Gatlin looked behind him, apparently unclear what the fuss was about, and said, "Let him do his job, man!"
Graham said he dropped the matter, not wanting to overreact. But after he learned Gatlin had tested positive, he said, he searched the Internet for testosterone creams until he found a photo that showed a white tube that was just like the one he had seen being used by Whetstine. The pink squiggle, he said, was actually the letter S for Sarati Laboratories. The cream, Deep Hydrating Essential Aloe Cream by Sarati, contains DHEA and is marketed to menopausal women as an alternative to traditional hormone therapy.
