Any chance that Andy Powell is going to be the next head coach at Oregon? He is a young guy, one of Vins hand picked guys, won;t rock the boat.

Who gives a flying fukk about over-hyped, over-sold Oregon and Nike? Wetmore will get less talent and still beat them year in and year out.
That would be the Nike way. Get the cheap, young, and at the minimum pay.
Colorado does so much more with less talent because Schoolmeester, Vaughn, Pifer, Jansen, Heinonen, Strang, Harkrader, Panone, Papazian, Nelson etc etc all sucked in high school.
If you really think that colorado gets guys with no talent, i have a bridge in the sahara desert i'd like to sell to you!
Uh, I was being somewhat facetious, although Wetmore generally gets a lot of his recruits from Colorado, not that they are any less talented. Of course Colorado gets talent, but it's relative. I'd say Wisconsin, Arkansas, and now Oregon get more talent. Oregon has deep-pockets, like the Yankees, and pretty soon (after the trials have come and gone), no one will give a shit about them either.
Hire Gerard to follow Vin - he's a Vin disciple and has a proven track record.
You'll be eatin' yer words like yer eatin' yer turds my friend. Try gum.
vin doesn't give a shit about his athletes!
he recruits them and leaves them! (ryan hall anyone? now chadd hall?)

Centorwitz to replace Vin as coach.
The article on the front page (link from the quote) said that Centro is not looking to leave American.
Andy is just too young and inexperienced. I'd bet that Dan Steele will be the new head coach. He has experience, wants to stay at Oregon, is a proven winner and has diplomacy and the trust of Vin and the Nike people.
I'll be back
Nobody is ever publicly "looking to leave." The article talked about the humble roots of coaching at American. What good coach wouldn't at least entertain the notion of climbing the ladder to coach at Nike U.? There is already a Gags-Centro connection, and Centro's lineage is a fit. I can't, however, imagine being a track coach with Vin as my AD. It's hard to imagine that situation not being micro-managed.
I'm sure this is the case. Wisco football coach barry alvarez did it.
That all we got FOKES. Or and Co and some other running schools. We gotZ what we getZ. Stuck wit em in running. That\'s the most there is. It aint like sprinter/hurdlers who have usc/ucla to look up to for olympic gold medals. Noboddy watches us u.s runnerZ cuz we dont get no goldZ each oly games. Keep puttin down and trashin Or and Co and Wisco etc. and we will get less shit, no scholarships, no free shoes, no paid meets, no alumni money. Then you\'ll really be whinein !
Brooks Johnson and flying 100's to Oregon.
You heard it first.
centro once told me that he would only leave American to coach at Oregon...hope it works out for him

Oh, if it was offered to him, you can bet your bottom dollar that Centro would take over at Oregon. Problem is, I don't think Vin is going to offer him it... as the thread on the City Paper reveals, Centro is known for being a bit of a wild card. I don't think Vin is going to take that chance, and I'm pretty sure that Alberto and Matt aren't exactly the best of friends, either. My guess is that they end up with one of "Vin's guys."
why is it that alberto salazar seems like such a whiny little bitch? i respect his running accomplishments and respect him as a runner, but he seems like such a prima donna. am i off?
Let's start a petition to hire Centro!
(not that it would have any effect on anything)
Vin Disel coaches xc? Then Colorado's win can only be explained one way, their coach is really chuck norris.

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
