Zatopeck,
Where in Osaka do you live? I used to be in Tennoji and Moriguchi. On Halloween I sure missed the Loop Line party.

I read a funny article in Runners World Sweden about Lars Enqvist, who ran Fukuoka in 1977 when Bill Rodgers won. (William Redgers on the race website).
He had an urgent need and shat a 20 yard streak in the middle of the city to much applause.
Rodgers is said to have given him his vest after hearing about it.
Enqvist finished top 20 one place behind L. Viren and was known as "Mr Hiroshima" over there.
True story.
2 hours to the start....right???
Right
est is 20.05; japan time is 10.05 sunday, so yes, 2 hours to go.
Is someone gonna give us a play by play? On this thread?

I thought "other Japanese guy" in the poll was somewhat ignorant.
I figured someone would say that and hate it how people always talk about a "Kenyan won the race" like they're not people.
But in this case I think the Japanese runners are a long shot. Fujita ran 2:06 but that was in 2000. There are a few 2:09, 2:10 guys but that would be a big upset if they win so I grouped them together.
But wejo, beaware of their sneak attack! Sorry, I had to throw this one!
Zatopek will post the update and I'll try to get to the official website for extra info. I've tried to find the best update with the Japanese sites but haven't quite found a good one. I might call in on the cell phone of one of the media guys who's in Fukuoka (at the press room) if I have to...
Thanks Nobby and Zatopek!!

Gun should be going off NOW.
Zatopek:
Just about to start now? I may not be able to contribute much again--having a heck of a time finding a good (Japanese) website for Fukuoka...
It just started
Just saw a news at Sankei Sports that Fujita did 1000m time trial yesterday on track and said he felt very good. He's known for a monk-like concentration. Yes, wejo, his 2:06 was run in 2000 but I won't write him off.
The first mile is on the track they just left the stadium
