With all the propaganda and bullsh*t on these boards, it is often hard to tell what is or isn’t legitimate. So here is what we can now clarify after regionals: - Indiana State, Iowa State and UCSB still don't deserve our respect: These three teams seem to have all of their fans/runners on the boards talking them up all season. Hate to break it to you, but anyone can peak early to run decent at prenats. If you don’t qualify for nationals, then you don't deserve our respect... yet. Maybe now I won't have to read all the time "Watch out for ISU! There is no way they aren't making it to nats this year!!!" - Michigan is almost always overrated: I was glad to see them not go to nationals for the second year in a row. - Oregon really is legit this year: Damn, they haven't faltered yet like a lot of people thought they might... - Oklahoma State really does get better as the season goes on: maybe it's the move to 10k, or maybe Kansas just gets worse and worse as the season goes on... - When all else fails, you can count on Wetmore: UTEP looked like world beaters at the Chili Pepper, but you can always count on Colorado peaking at just the right time to easily win regionals, and do well at nationals. And finally just a quick observation: The South regional has a lot of foreigners. I am just going to guess and say that 19 of the top 20 are foreign. |

who do you guys think will win the individual title at nationals? |

OSU is helped out by the move up to 10k, and Kansas did have one of their runners who was 5th for them at conference beaten to a bloody pulp |

I think a shortlist has to look something like this: Solinsky Korir (put 20 seconds on McDougal today) McDougal Fagan Rohatinsky Rupp Cheseret Kosgei(Arkansas) Eagon Rombaugh Of course there are countless others who could be up there, and a few I have named on that list have yet to prove themselves when it really counts, but those are 10 that I can think of at the moment. |

Haha, I forgot about that (not laughing that some guy was beaten up- laughing cause its a good point). Yeah, point KU on that one. |

It doesn't take a genius to figure look at the Big 12 results & see that Ok St should beat Kansas at Regionals & Nationals. In a deep meet OSU should beat KU, they're deeper. |

thats true, it should be easy to see... However, there was a lot of pre-race talk saying that it wasn't going to happen. And this is what the thread is all about-- clearing up bullsh*t misconceptions. |

funny thing is, even if kelly was running right with sloan, ku still would have got 2nd. and at big 12s kelly was actually behind french, ku's 5th runner today. if kelly was actually healthy, the team score probably wouldn't have changed much, if at all. |

I think it is his first non-Nats loss. However, the implications depend on what really went down. I think he may be trying to run the best race possible each time out. The loss here might indicate growing confidence that all he needed to do at Regionals was to show a good performance and same the real deal for next week. Solinsky did not win today either and it is no black mark on his resume. Remember the goal is to win next week, not this week. |

Chseret? I think that ship has LONG sailed...at least as far as cross country is concerned. |

you could very well be right. It just kinda seemed wrong not to mention Cheseret there. I guess Nef from Stanford would've been a better choice or something. |

Team predictions: 1) Colorado - they'll win with the best 4th & 5th man in the meet. I'll think they'll win comfortably. 2) Arkansas - they're due for a very good NCAA XC meet. They have a strong 1-2 combo and have the depth. 3) Oregon - have not lost this year and are running with a lot of confidence. A sleeper to win the meet... this year? 4) Wisco - not sure if they have the depth, which sounds like a weird thing to say about the Badgers? PS - Hey Wejo, UTEP did not get screwed... They were ranked fourth in the country and finished 3rd in their region. They screwed themselves. |

Rohatinsky looked great at regionals, sitting relaxed in the lead group until making a strong move to get away from Lomong. Lomong should also be on the list of potential winners at nationals. Tough guy, great speed, great range. Colorado's traditional mid race move worked to perfection. Five guys moving forward as a group through the whole race. UTEP did not get screwed. Their guys were up front at 2 miles and they just fell back all the way through the race, and BYU ran well. Everyone knew what they had to do, and it was easy to see what was happening during the race. |

"or maybe Kansas just gets worse and worse as the season goes on???" WTF man, are you kiddding me? Let's be REAL clear here. (1) OSU ran a hell of a race, and beat KU for the first time all year - TRUE. They deserve props for that, they peaked at the right time, they're a strong 10k team, etc. (2) KU ran a hell of a race, beating Minnesota, Iowa State, and MU (three teams to whom they lost badly at Roy Griak), as well as Iowa, to whom they lost at Pre-Nats. What's my point? KU has done the exact opposite of your ignorant and uneducated comment - getting better and better as the season goes on. I'm not saying that OSU isn't doing the same thing - they ran well for sure and are peaking at the right time. But so is KU you dumbass - they ran mediocre at their first few meets, turned it on a bit at Pre-Nats, would have finished 2nd at Big XII's if it weren't for the f***-up from OSU punching a CU runner, and then finished 2nd in a highly competitive regional in which four teams were competing that had beaten them badly earlier in the year. Do your research or shut the f*** up. |

Sounds like another bitter Jayhawk. Relax man. You guys are running well. Let your legs (or their legs) do the talking...the Jayhawks will be a top 15 team at Nats for the second year in a row. If you want to panic, wait until next year when they are 7th or 8th in the region. |
