He wouldn't name the place. I would have blasted them if it was me...that meal must have cost him thousands and maybe a place on the podium.

I was going to say the same thing. I put everything I need for the race in my carry on and don't let it out of my site.

Wow. I was at mile 23 in Central Park and right as Meb came by he jumped off the course and into a porta potty about 10 meters away. He was in there for about 3 minutes and lost a couple of places. I was pretty surprised by that but the food poisoning explains it.

I'm surprised it affected his finish so much. I mean, I've seen Meb stand in line for movie tickets, purchase them, and then hop back in the race and hold on for the win.

Not really. He was on a direct flight from San Diego to New York, and had to choose between baby stuff and his shoes for a carry-on. He chose the baby gear.

The irony of that in light of his MasterCard commercial is, well, priceless.
I admire him for being such a classy person that he didn't name the restaurant. Nothing is more tasteless than a disappointed athlete blaming everything and everyone for a poor performance. No sour grapes from Meb.

After his win at the 2000 Olympic Trials in Sacramento, Meb came in with his family and sat next to us at the Denny's down the road from the track.
If his stomach can handle a Grand Slam Denver Scrambler after a 28:03 10k, this Chicken Alfredo or whatever he ate must have been super messed up.
this makes no sense. he could easily have just bought new gear for his baby once in nyc.
Yea you are right he should act like some super celebrity and buy new things everywhere he travels...
well if you to choose between the one day you need your racing flats for the most important race of the next 6months, what is it like 100 bucks? still less then the cost of a nyc entry.
i still don't buy that he had to dump either one bag or the other. it just doesn't make sense.
