1.Edinboro- they have alot of depth and even their coach says they are doing great which he usually doesn't have many comments so if he thinks he has a good team I will beleive him. I beleive this team has a great chance to crack the top 5 if their freshman can deal well with 10k and run as well over that distance as they are over 8k. They could have their top 5 in under 32 minutes at regionals with a 3 guys in the top 7. and their next 2 guys in the top 15 at worst in my opinion.

2. Slippery Rock- I am just not convinced yet that they are better then boro. I beleive they train hard and want it bad but that doesn't always mean you are going to win. They are a solid second place team and they can have a great national impact for the conference and hopefully help bring back more spots for next years teams. Up front they are the strongest team in the conference. Weiss and Reagan seem to be working great together and I beleive they will be 1,2 in the conference. ONLY because Clark is redshirting. After that bluman and Geddis will be top 12 with their 5th guy around 25-30th

3,4,5 are up in the air between Lock Haven, Ship, and Mansfield. All three teams seem to be very similar as a team. Mansfield has the top guy out of the three teams with Cummings and a solid guy right behind him. The next three are pretty volurable to getting sucked up into the pack and losing alot of points between their 1st guy and 5th. Their 5th guy i could see being around 40th in the region

Then you have Lock Haven that seem to be struggling with a good group of guys, things do happen and that is understandable, doesn't mean bad coaching just means things might not be working out 100% the way they hoped. With Moore being hurt, and Spidell out for the season they are hurting up front. I beleive that if this team can come together at the post season they can get 3rd if not they will be 5h. If everybody would be healthy they would be challenging for 2nd with Slippery rock 5th guy ending up around 35th

Ship is a big question mark for me. They have Thompson which is an all regional runner, but Beegle has been their top guy every meet so does this mean Beegle is an all regional runner as well? Brady is right behind them by about 15 seconds so up front they could have 3 guys from 10th-20th in the region, if their 4 and 5 guys move up they will take the 3rd spot. After losing Gracey and Neyhart their team is def hurting, if they would be healthy they also would be challenging slippery rock for a spot to nationals. 5th guy ending up around 35th as well.

I'll save most of my thoughts for my own set of predicitons which will come out later this week/early next week. Working on a little "something special" this year.

In general, your observations seem reasonable...however, I have 2 questions:

1.) Are you serious when you state that if they were healthy, Ship could challenge for a top-2 finish? I'm not sure even a healthy Haven team could do that this year, but I'm quite confident a healthy Ship team could not.

2.) Hmmmm....everybody is convinced that Weiss & Reagan are going to finish 1-2. That is...everybody but me. I do believe that Weiss will win...but, I think Reagan will finish 3rd or 4th. More to come on that...

Now, on a completely different note, I have another question. Assuming the Rock guys make it to Nats, which of the following best describes what Pap will be wearing on race day:

A.) That crazy whaling hat that he picked up in Alaska

B.) Not one...not two...but three mega-sized camera lenses around his neck

C.) Jeans that are rolled up...not in a fashionable way, but rather in a way that looks like he is ready for any flash flood that Joplin, MO could throw his way

D.) All of the above

Hoovis 2,
The reason IMO lab attendent said Ship would have a shot at contending with Slippery Rock if we were all healthy for 2nd, is because Gracey and Neyhart are just as good, if not better than Jeremy Brady. That would potentially give us 5 guys in the top-25, or even top-20.......but Gracey and Neyhart are redshirting so this is just hypothetical, I just don't believe it's THAT crazy of an idea to think we be up there challenging for 2nd.

i know dirt's mentioned it on here before, but looked into what cooper, from weselyn, and a solo sub 32 is quite impressive. looks like he will definitely contend for one of the individual spots for nats.

good video with Carney in it. Shows them training in Boulder. A high schooler I coached last year, runs for CU this year and he loves it up there. Sounds like fun, best of luck Carney.

Brown boots, darker blue jeans. Huge belt buckle (look for it!) Becuase he has slimmed down so much this past summer he will definitely be hiking up his pants here and there no doubt. Up top he'll be sporting either...the Carhart heavy duty hoodie/jacket which is black or the SRU "Rock Distance" green jacket.

gauranteed!

ok gotta go teach 2nd period later folks!

This is an interesting off topic. Some of the coaches in the PSAC have unique styles. Who will be dressed in what? Watts will have those lime green shoes and Papa is his own. Who else will be in what?

That'd be Johnny K. Haha nothing scary about him other than maybe how someone can be that enthusiastic about everything all the time, definitely one of the nicest people you'll ever meet though. He's alum that stayed in the area and ran with the team so much that Fry eventually made him an assistant coach. There's your history lesson for the week, tune in next time when we dive into the world of underground tricycle racing.

Yeah, every year I try and get out to Penn Relays. I missed last year for the first time in well over a decade, but have already booked my flight back for this year. One of my favorite parts of the meet is being down on the infield during the Thursday night distance races.

Fry (IUP) is usually there. Pap (Rock) is usually there. Watts (Boro) is always there. Spence (Ship) is always there. I love talking with each of these guys...they all have their own unique styles and approaches to things, but mostly I love it becaues they are all just such interesting characters.

Also, from time to time, you get to see/converse with other PSAC'ers. I often hang with Shaf (IUP), usually see Matt Hurst (Ship), have run into Argle-bargle/Mike Ellebarger (Ship), talked with Laughlin (Rock), Rivera (Boro), and many others over the years. I know it's a ways out and nobody's thinking of track, but keep it in mind and come down to Franklin Field if you can swing it.

P.S. jake, nice call on the carhart hoodie. classic.

Do go check this out...it's well worth it. That's awesome...favorite quote:

Plus, the whole damn video is freakin' great. I'm boltin' from the office in a few moments to go run in the mountains...don't know how anybody could watch that video and not have to go out the door for a run.

Could Weiss be the next James Carney or Steve Spence? I think if anybody in the conference is going to go on and be a star it is going to be Chris Clark, there is something about him that just makes me think his best days are ahead of him. Good luck to both and you def make the PSAC look good

When talking about post colligiate potential one would have to include Cummings on any list. While this is a Cross Country thread, keep in mind that over the past several years his 2nd place finish in the 1500 is still the highest place of any distance runner in the PSAC.

To Clarify, in recent years he has the highest place - not, certainly not all time.

I see Russell wearing an LHU XC polo shirt, likely Crimson, though White is possible. If it's warm, khaki shorts, otherwise blue jeans.

Keith White was the best back in the day wearing the dress suits to meets, but I think that was only indoor track though. Might be wrong, can't remember back that far.
