My team, the coaching staff at Mansfield and I would like to thank the Coach Watts and the Edinboro staff for their great efforts this weekend putting on one of the most competitive PSAC meets in that last couple of years. The staff at Edinboro volunteered to put the meet on to let the ESU staff have a break from hosting the event every year. They did not have to do that. The dome was beautiful and the track was fast. We especially want to thank Coach Watts and his staff for taking the extra time and effort to arrange for those distance races to be run in lane 4. The track was not marked for that originally and it took a lot of work to figure out where those start lines were supposed to be and put them down. I would also like to thank the coaches from Clarion, Ship, LHU, and Millersville who served on the games committee who were much more patient then I was with individuals who could not follow simple rules and protocols. I was genuinely impressed with several teams and their demeanor in particularly LHU athletes set a great example of sportsmanship as did the kids form several other schools. But for us and for Brenae Edwards we would like to thank Neely for helping Brenae to an auto qualifier. For those that don’t know, when Neely caught Brenae who was on auto pace for the first 9 laps by herself, Neely told Brenae to come along and kept encouraging her over the last 5 minutes of the race. Brenae is very thankful and it was great sportsmanship. There are no legitimate complaints about the way the meet was run. At least not from mature adults. |

The track and the facility overall were great, very nice to race on. And there were some fast times and some exciting races. However, I must admit, I thought the yellow cards were a strange touch to an overall great meet. |

I would also like to congratulate LHU for beating ESU. Lock Haven is very supportive of other teams and over all very nice team. ESU has a very "I hate you" attitude towards the rest of the conference so I was happy to see them crying after their loss. I know its now about being nice but you can be a fierce competitor during the race but you don't have to be assholes outside of the track as well. I am excited for more distance races like we saw last weekend at outdoor psacs! The meet was ran well except for the relay starting lines. The 5k line was not even down before the race but they went ahead and called the athletes to the line and then decided to put a line down. This is stuff that should have been done on thursday and friday not on the starting line. The yellow cards was pretty lame i thought as well. How is it okay for the coaches to be in lane 3 yelling at their athletes? At nationals you aren't aloud on the track like that so why are doing it at PSACs? Would also like to nominate Ed Buck as the best Rabbit of the meet. Pulled the mile field along quite well and set the race up for Hilton to run a nice PR and also set the 800 race up for those guys. They should have thrown him in the 3k also to make that race faster |

Watts was on a power trip, and he was out of control. I saw him actually put his hands on an athlete's chest and physically shove him out of the first lane, this is when a race was going on in the 4th lane. How is that necessary? Every other conference meet run at ESU people were allowed to cheer wherever they wanted to a degree. Everyone knows not to interfere with races, we don't need a crazy coach throwing around yellow cards and pushing athletes. |

what are these yellow cards? was it like in soccer you get two you're gone? who was he giving them to? coaches? athletes? fans? someone provide some explanation. |

If you were on the track during races you would get a yellow card and would have to go to a official to have them explain the rules to you. Unless you were from edinboro of course because I watched Tina Yi encouraging her teammates during a race on the track and she never got yelled at even though Watts was standing right behind her watching her do it, 30 seconds later a Kutztown kid does the same thing and gets a yellow card while he was standing right next to Tina. While the Kutztown kid walked away Tina remained on the track. |

I don't know how you can say ESU has a "I hate you attitude"...do you have some kind of proof or this just your impression of the people? I am just curious where you get your information, because I have found them to be quite pleasant. I guess we all have our biases and bigotry. I also find what they have done with their smaller squad to be remarkable against bigger teams like Shipp and Haven. Shame it came down to just a half a point. I agree with other people that the races were great and fast! The 3k was very emotional and insane as always. I think Watts needs chill with those yellow cards...he was all over the place with those!! Can't wait till outdoors!!! |

The facility was awesome, just like I said before, the starting line situation in some of the distance races was my only complaint. It's hard on athletes who have a warm up routine that has them ready for the time they step up to the line to have to get on the track and wait 15 minutes because an alley wasn't set up.. aside from that, I think the meet was run well. Watts may have been a bit out of control with the yellow cards, but he was under a lot of pressure. Edinboro doesn't host meets often and since they volunteered to have PSACs at their new facility, he just wanted to make sure the rules he set in place were followed. Maybe there is a better way to do it, but I can see the idea behind the whole ordeal. The races themselves were awesome, with some great emotion, and some things were just great to watch.. Brenae Edwards from Mansfield getting a PR and a auto qualifier with the help of Neely Spence was awesome, Mansfield and Ship dueling in the men's DMR with Mansfield sealing the win in a kick, Slippery Rock taking home a 4x8 title on the men's side, a huge upset in the LJ with the kid from West Chester having the jump of his life, Edelman from LHU almost stealing the 800 only to be outkicked by Rector from SRU who finally got the PSAC title that had eluded him, some blazing fast miles and sprints, Mugun taking charge of the race in the 5k and holding off a furious kick from Sean Stetler, then Stetler coming back the next day to take down the field in the 3k. It's just making me look forward to outdoor! BTW, does anyone know who the photographer set up at the meet was? |

i know what your talking about... ESU does have a very "hate everyone attitude"... after they lost by a half point they were upset and didn't celebrate... kind of ungrateful right? the worst part? get this... they went and shook the hands of all the haven guys after lock haven was announced as the champion... unbelievable... the audacity right? they've got some nerve. |

Isn't it great how Slippery Rock can't beat watts, so they just attack him through blogs. How big of you all! |

Well, once again, it seems like there is a normalcy post of 5:1. 5 stupid posts to 1 normal post. I think I'm giving most of you the benefit of the doubt, too. Boy do people like to bitch and gripe on here. People complaining that Watts was handing out yellow cards. Wah wah! Look, that Edinboro girl didn't get one, why did the Kutztown girl get one?!?! Shut your whiny pie hole. Watts is the man. Maybe if you introduced yourself to him and weren't a jackass, you probably would've gotten away with cheering on the track. Then again, if most people at the meet are complainers about trivial stuff (minus the starting line thing. I'll give ya that) like the people on this board, then I don't blame Watts for doing the yellow card show. If I was him, I'd be doing crazy junk as well to shut your teenage-minded mouths. ESU...wah wah, they have a poor attitude. Boo hoo. Just like the last dude posted: they lost by half a point, didn't celebrate, and had the nerve to shake hands. C'mon, now. Unless I hear some evidence of them actually doing something (which even if you state something, I bet it will also be nit picking) what is your point? Are you upset that one of the big three wasn't second, and that you lost to them or something? Did you have a bad race, and you're taking it out on someone else? Look, these message boards could provide a great service. Instead, the tards of the 'sac have decided to post on here constantly, and this always turns into some stupid whine fest. Maybe it's that time of the month for you guys, but suck it up! You are in college. Stop acting like your in jr. high, grow a pair, and compete. I'm an old alum, but man, if you guys wore football helmets, I would've grabbed you by the front of your masked and yelled right in your face for being so dumb. I suppose it doesn't matter too much, because the point scorers usually seem to be the ones who don't come on here and talk junk. It's usually the envious wannabe's who have to provide their, 'you know what really grinds my gears?' to the rest of the internet world like someone gives a damn. Yeah, thanks for posting your opinion about Watts, I'm sure he'll change. How about you kids who post this garbage go back to your chat roulette with your high school girlfriends and huff some gas. |
