I have a very strong disagreement with the regional and national rankings that just came out, so I am giving my top 3 a shot on each side, based purely off what I have seen so far this season:

Men:

Edinboro- Top team score at Paul Short and even if you throw Beegle in the mix, I don't think its enough to overcome the deficit that was there. I think Hahn is just a stud and Coach Watts is the Godfather of PSAC XC coaches. Josh Arthur is better than that, my guess is he has been putting in a ton of miles and will show strong for them in 4 weeks.

Lock Haven- Coach Russell has done an excellent job over the past several years of peaking his guys for the PSAC meet where they always seem to run out of their minds and someone like Yeatts will have the best race of the season. Russel recruits well and he has young guys like Garraway, who come from stong HS programs. They won't wilt over a flat 10k race at Mansfield.

Shippensburg- Didn't roll out their best squad at Paul Short and something must have happened to Gracey. The positive for these guys is they have 3 sub 15 guys (Beegle, Brady, Gracey) and a 3:52 guy (Neyhart) who didn't race at Paul Short, definitely enough talent to win the conference and region.

Most exciting men's race in recent memory, all 3 are capable of winning.

Women:

Kutztown- the pack and the spread set them apart right now. If you put them up into the Gold race they are the 2nd best PSAC team, behind ship. but PSACs is a smaller meet and the pack will gain them more points than they will lose up front. Based on the way they ran this weekend, Kutztown is the better team on the conference and regional level.

Shippensburg- Still the best team in the conference at the national meet. Spence and Dell will probably combine for less than 20 points, leaving 3 runners to score. This team is missing the depth at 5-7 that make you a legit national team, right now they would be in a dogfight for top 8.

Slippery Rock- I debated this one for a few minutes. Harpp is strong up front and the 2-5 seeming to be packing together nicely. The problem is Slippery Rock hasn't raced anyone yet so I don't know how good they really are. They are putting up some big victories and decent times on tough courses right now, but I don't think they have the horses up front.

i know everyone will think I am crazy for ranking Ship 2nd, but if you move their times down to the Brown race, Kutztown beats them handily. I stick to the theory that would happen at PSACs also.

Gracey an Neyhart both ran. What is so confusing the top seven at Paul short is the same as last year at regionals minus neyhart.

brady is not on the team, gracey and neyhart are not running on the varsity squad and we are definitely not "beegless" not sure where you are getting your info... keep speculating though by all means.

hope everyone comes ready to run at regionals its gonna be a blast. and i hope we can get another damn bid for next year so we dont have to train to peak 2 weeks before nationals. see everyone in 4.5 weeks!

i'm only going to do the men's predictions as i haven't been following the ladies enough to make a valid case. i think once the dust has settled on another exciting cross season the top 5 men's teams will look something like this:

1. 'Boro - Too much power and too much depth for any other team to contend with. With top guys like hahn, arthur, and lantinen leading the way, along with an amazing pack of other endless talent, there is enough depth on this team to still win the conference even if several of their top guys aren't on their A game. And remember, conferences is at their home and Watts always has the boys ready to run when it counts.

2. Haven - Sorry Ship, but i'm gonna give the edge to Haven here. Hilton seems ready to go, and with runners like miller, pomerantz, and zondlo backing him up, expect haven to show up much like they did at regionals last year and prove to everyone that they are a cross powerhouse. It's ashame that they don't have getz this year, but i'm predicting a nationals appearance out of these guys regardless.

3. SHIP - I don't exactly know the story with beagle, but if they don't have him i can't see them beating Haven. Their pack has developed, and now runners like stetler, sitler, neyhart, rissell, and schelander are all contenders to be all-conference. They have more than enough depth, but i'm not completely convinced that they will be able to topple haven.

4. Bloom - Yes, Bloomsburg here. Both Furman and Misha are more than capable of turning in all-conference and all-region performances, and all this team needs is for some of it's younger guys to step up on race day and run well.

5. Rock - This is kind of ashame. I expected the Weiss and Reagan era to at least reign on for a couple years. However, it looks like things are quickly coming to a close and the rock will be returning to how it was before Weiss. Yes, they have Grey, Walton, and Leonard, but without a 4 and 5 guy this team is going to be pretty much powerless. I'm giving these guys the benefit of the doubt, but don't be surprised to see ESU or Millersville sneak in and beat them.

We are not peaking for regionals and we will do you the favor of getting the region a third bid so you can come to nationals next year too ship!
Kind of like last year...

Actually for next year's National bid it doesn't matter if your top regional team finishes in the the top 8 for the extra bid. The process has been changed and extra national bids will be awarded based on the following format.

Every Region will receive 2 bids to nationals just as they do now.

From the National meet results you will remove each Regions top team, no matter where they place.

You will have 16 teams remaining in the results. From there the 8 extra national bids are awarded to the next 8 teams and the regions that they represent.

In actuality both teams will have to place well in order for the region to get another berth to nationals. Not just one team placing in the top 8 as in years past....

Putting out predictions are fine...but let your legs do the talking for your team. Talking crap against other teams is pointless, spend your time putting forth useful information on this thread or get off of it and go for a run. Putting down other teams just puts more pressure on yourself and your team.

I usually don't post on here, but I completely agree with dontTalkcrap. I'm very against trash talking and letting your performances show what you're all about. All this talk on here is just getting annoying and it needs to stop. Bashing other teams (and even your own team) is low and you're gonna feel like an idiot when/if you or your team doesn't perform at that level.
