I'm hoping that both Regan and Weiss run the 5K at Penn. Crouch (Queens) the runner-up in D2 Cross and the Indoor 5K champ will be running, as will a host of guys who should be right around 14:00 - 14:10...the Georgetown guys, the Iona guy (can't spell his name), Forys from Michigan who seems primed for a breakout race, and of course the PSAC's own Ben "tight pants" Hahn and Cal's Chris Clark. Should be a good one...I'm hoping Weiss doesn't opt for the 10. Fleck

speaking of penn... did anyone see what the haven guys are seeded in the 10k??? what is up with russell always seeding his guys so damn high? out of a competitive 45 person collegiate field they are seeded 3rd 5th and 6th right around weiss which means all three of them are probably seeded sub 30. getz and jed have run high 31s i believe but johnson has run nothing under 32:40s. mclaughlin is seeded 31st and hes already run a provsional! even in the 5k, they have zondlo up there running in the fast section which is usually won in sub 14. the guy is a 1500/steepler who wasnt that great at cross country. So throw him in a fast 5k in the biggest track and field meet in the nation? It just seems to me like they throw their athletes to the dogs whether they are ready or not, and it usually ends up going pretty poorly for them. whenever they go to penn their guys usually end up doing horribly and embarassing the conference. so russell will you please stop seeding your athletes way faster than they are capable of running... its a violation of ethics in our sport and usually makes your team look like idiots. but hey i will eat my words if haven comes away from tomorrow with a few provisionals and automatics.... but looking at their past history i highly doubt i will be wrong. |

Coach Russell, It is understandable to want you athletes in the big meets to run fast times. But at what price? I agree with everything P on my ballSAC said. To put Getz, AJ Johnson, and Jed right behind Weiss? Seriously? Weiss is a sub-30 10k guy, none of your guys have gotten even close to that. Can they probably run sub-31? Get some provisionals? Absolutely...but for them to be 3,4, and 6 in that level of a meet is dumb. Have some integrity. If they go out and get 3, 4, and 6th I will eat my words, but chances are they won't. They may go out and run some big PR's, but seriously? 3, 4, and 6th???? What did you put them in at 29:30? I know your guys have performed well at big meets this season, like up at Boston indoors, but what happened at PSAC's? AJ Johnson sh!t the bed in the 5k and ran 15:40...maybe you should re-think your racing strategy. Sincerely, A Concerned PSAC Fan |

No one from the outside cares about seedings. If the coach wants to enter a fast time, let him. He has to get his athletes into the meet. Besides they may run that fast. They do belong there so if they are ranked first or 101st so what. |

haha hes right! remember a few weeks ago at bucknell when zondlo was put into the fast section of the steeple, a race that was won in 8:51, and he ran 10:03 getting last by about 20 secs! russell must have thought "what a great tune-up! hes ready for the penn relays 5k now!" i just dont know what goes on in the heads of those lock haven people. |

The Penn Relays website says "Relay teams and individuals should be entered only if they are capable of achieving the following performances in the Carnival". 10k standard is 29:45...Getz has hardly gotten within 2 minutes of that time this season, the other guys haven't even gotten within 2 minutes of that time...fair? You make the call. |

When I saw what the haven guys were seeded at I about lost my lunch, and I mean that quite literally. We see haven do this time and time again. I reserved judgment bc I hadn't seen any of them race recently but I am not surprised at all at what I saw. Congrats to Hilton, that was about the only respectable time of the weekend, I hope he can sneak into the NCAA meet. However, for all of those 10k guys (Getz, Jed, and A.J.) being put into the championship section is plain embarrassing for the conference. Sure getz set a huge pb but really he did not run that fast and was still well over a minute slow of the qualifying standard, almost a full lap. I don't care if all these guys set pb's there is plenty of other competition in almost every other meet they go to. I am aware of at least 6 guys in the conference that have already run a 5k completely drunk, and ran sub 15:20. And trust me theres many more who are capable of it as well Maybe Russell was just trying to go out with a bang but what he is teaching his student-athletes is horrible. Distance running has historically been on of the most natural and honest sports known to man. To throw all ethics away and teach kids that lying (obscenely) is ok and fair is just terrible. Many coaches I know hold their athletes to their performances and would never jeopardize a races integrity. If every coach did this, the championship of America would be one of the slowest races of the country. I have absolutely nothing against the Lock Haven Athletes. They are just like all other competitive distance runners in the world, they love to compete. Aaron Russell needs to change his ways or it is going to come back and bite everyone in the PSAC. On a brighter note congrats to all the guys (and girls) who got the job done this weekend. |

With his PSAC record 29.04 and breaking 14.00 this week...where does Clark rank among the best distance runners in PSAC history? I am not a PSAC historian like some on this board.....but I have to think he's near the top. |

The comments that have been made definitely are warranted, because the Haven guys were ranked 3, 4, and 6. They were actually 17, 26, and 30. Tell me how you can mess up your athletes seed time that much? The times that they were put in at were obviously blatant lies, that's just stupid to do. They could have gone and ran those times elsewhere, the only guy you can argue for is Getz. The other two guys did not belong in that race whatsoever, especially the AJ kid who ran 32:20 or something, I mean what's up with that? |

All you guys are doing is beating down people, there should be more talk about how the fastest 10k time in the nation is a PSAC runner (Clark). The fasted 5k for women in the nation is a PSAC runner (Spence), and the TWO fastest times in the nation for the women's 10k are PSAC runners (Lanzel, Richard). |
