I actually don't agree with your statement that Strauman wouldn't make top 7 for the top PSAC teams. It depends on how "deep" you consider top, but do you really think that the National Champ in 800m -- a guy who is fairly big and strong like Strauman and who has run some decent 1500's -- a guy who is definitely closer to being a miler than he is to being a true 400m runner -- couldn't be a top 7 guy for Ship or for Haven? Obviously, it would depend on his training...but, I'd take Strauman on 50 miles per week than most runners on 70 miles per week. Hoovis

Hey Bobcat, I just started running about 4 weeks ago after almost 6 months off. Lets just say I have long way to go before I can say I am fit again, but a Half Marathon around January would not be bad. I was actually supposed to do the Houston half this past year, but got hurt a few weeks right before it. I would not mind giving it another shot. I guess we can plan it as we get closer, but it is a good idea. -Jorge |

I was just wondering if anyone knows what Pinto is doing with running? |

yo. you can suck on my balls. promoting myself? doubtful. if you have a real beef with me, then ill see you on a XC course. |
| strauman |
| ||
first off. this was just an interview with a reporter. he wrote the article in the way he wanted to. i had no idea what he was going to say and i can control the angle that he takes. i never said i would be IUPs top guy. i know for a fact i wont. i just hope i can help improve my team by showing everyone my work ethic and dedication thanks for the inputs tho. |

yo. you can suck on my balls. promoting myself? doubtful. if you have a real beef with me, then ill see you on a XC course.[/quote] Get a clue as you better stick to track because if you can not even be #1 on your team you do not want to run with the big boys. |

ok first. i am an 800 runner. i said in that interview i hoped to be the 5th or 6th runner on the XC team because im not really a cross guy. so i dont know where you go the #1 idea. secondly, i dont know who you are. if you had any balls or guts you would tell me your name. unless you havent done shit to backup yourself. third, i dont care what you think of me. i was as successful at iup as i could have ever dreamed. there are PLENTY of runners out there who are better than me. i am just fortunate for the opportunities i have had. ok recap. im doing this for fun and because i enjoy running for coach fry. secondly, i dont know who you are. nor do i care. i can guarantee you didnt beat me in the 800. and finally, just because i wont be #1 on the XC team doesnt mean i cant help this team. |
| strauman |
| ||
|
and ya know... i run because i love to run. i went to iup because i wanted to run for Doc and Fry. i'm satisified with whatever i am able to do. i have different tactics that most runners. so be it. i believe in myself and thats only because i make it my job to work harder than anyone else out there on the track day in and day out. and there are always going to be people who try to bring me down. i get that. but at the end of the day, i can come in first or second or last place. i dont need a trophy or a title to tell me im successful at running or that i love running. i'd love to get my ass kicked by a jeff weiss or a pat reagan or a chris cummings or a ryan blood or a chris clark. thats how you learn as a runner. by racing those who are better than you. you make the most of what you have and goodluck to you. i'll make the most with what i have. i run because i can. and if you're really going to give me crap for not being the top guy on IUP XC, then your one of the bad aspects to the sport. instead of bringing others down, you should worry about yourself. |

Sean will most likely be IUP's third or forth runner. The guy has mad strength and who cares if he is only doing 50 miles a week all of his miles are quality miles. Also he puts in more time in making himself stronger and everyone knows cross is more about strength. IUP's team will turn some heads this year i guaranty that. IUP will be better than 8th in the PSAC. The only reason why i say that is IUP lost a lot of the pussies who would do 40 miles or less. |

sean, dont worry about what is said on here. go train hard and then run your mouth on the course, not here. that is the best way to do it. and like you said, enjoy yourself. peace out dude. p.s. I own you in frisbee golf. |

whats going on people? I haven't check this website in a while and I see that people still like to talk shit on everyone else. Strauman who cares what they say. u will be good in XC someone asked what i was doing with running. here it is: i started my training on june 1st; im running about 7-8 miles a day. I'm training for indoors and outdoor and i may run a couple 5k's here and there during xc. I also join the westchester running club in NY. Its a pretty good club; once a week I go run with the guys from there. they are all africans; so that will be good for me. ok i hope everyone is running and we will see each other at psacs, regionals, and NCAA. later |

In terms of what folks are up to... Adam Lint (IUP grad) is coming out to Seattle this weekend to participate in the US 50-Mile Trail Championships (White River 50 Miler) at Crystal Mountain: http://www.seattlerunningcompany.com/WR50/ Dude is wicked strong, having finished 3rd at the US 50K and 100K road champs...but will be interesting to see how he fairs on a course with total elevation changes >17,000 feet. He claims not to have been doing many workouts, but I can attest the guys been logging major, major miles. Here's his total miles for June/July: 149, 142, 144, 115, 113, 130, 135, and a taper last week of 109. It's worth noting that another IUP alum, Tom "Rogo" Rogozinski was also the winner of the inaugural White River 50 miler back in 1993. Not sure Adam can win this one, as the race is stacked especially due to the fact that many of those planning to run Western States 100 (which was cancelled to do CALI forrest fires) are now running this race. But, I'm confident he'll do well and can't watit cheer him on. Hoovis |

I agree, the team will be much better without those who were bringing it down for the past half-decade. |

Been thinking about ultra running and the PSAC since my last post. I'm willing to bet that IUP alum could beat any other PSAC school in either a 50 mile ultra. I'm not sure exactly who would round out the team, but a potential top 3 could look like this: 1.) Adam Lint (3rd at US 50K & 100K champs) 2.) Tom Rogozinski (3rd in Transamerica race) 3.) Mark Stuart (multiple time winner of Niagra Falls 50K) I also think I could run a bang up 50, given the training I've been doing for a 50K. Shaf is likely going to run a sub 2:30 marathon this fall, and somebody like AJ Kelly could be a factor if he upped his long run mileage. Any other PSAC school able to top that? Hoovis |

Perhaps the most successful PSAC ultrarunner was Charlie Trayer from Millersville. He ran there mid-70's and was a sub 15/sub 31 guy (at least). Ultra-wise, Trayer was a top US guy in the 80's who had near a 2:20 marathon pr and went 3:04 for 50 km, 5:17 for 50 miles, and 6:41 for 100km. Complete animal with numerous impressive ultra performances in international races. Adding to the list of those from IUP having completed ultras(if 50 km is considered an ultra): IUP late 80's: Marty Sachs: 2:28 marathoner who has run dozens of ultras from 50 km to 6-days IUP early 90's Govidasamy Balasakera BALA : Two 50 kms IUP mid 90's: Chris Spurlin (2x PSAC steeple champ) at least one 50 km Great to see Adam Lint pusing the limits. Love to see more PSAC alumni give it a go. The JFK 50 miler in Maryland in November is a great 1st ultra if anyone is looking to test the waters. Rogo |

Anyone check out the Mansfield web site lately? Cummings was the PSAC Scholar Athlete of the Year (for all sports), He was the USTFCCA Indoor Scholar Track AOY, and he won the NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship. The guy had quite the year going along with being all american in all three seasons. |
