was the guy from New Zealand Mike Aish?
It was Paul Hamblyn, 3.38 1500m runner from New Zealand, currently based in Boulder.
NO.... It was Michael Aish
1:04 and change in Denver? winning? not bad.
What would Alan's time convert to at sea level?
Roughly 1:02:55 if you use the .97 conversion.

Quite the deep field.
Looks like Culpepper did exactly what he said we would do - a marathon pace run at approx. 5 mpm.
Not sure when the above results came from, but the website for the race has the top 10 as;
DENVER, CO - OCTOBER 15, 2006
OVERALL RESULTS - HALF MARATHON MALES

Where is the "0.97" conversion from? Is that an extension of the 5k conversion I've found online, or is there a formula for converting race times over 5k?
Maybe an altitude adjustment? Just a guess.
Clint Wells 2:28 in winning the MARATHON.
That's a great time for Denver, and I hear that he missed a turn or went the wrong direction (???) which cost him some time. Sounds like he's in 2:08:5x - 2:10 shape.
Go pick on a younger sibling erfan.
I ran the same half and would like to know what my adjusted time might be as I consider my fall marathon pace.
To be more explicit: I'm looking for an altitude conversion formula for races longer than five kilometers (that's all I can seem to find online). My original query can be restated, “What is the source of the 0.97 conversion?”
The best calculator I have found for doing conversions is
http://www.runworks.com/calculator.html
This is base off of Jack Daniels research and his tables.
that is a awesome conversion calculator - not that conversions matter, but it cool to project.
Many thanks, Marathon Guy. This calculator does it all!
