New York Marathon has been billed to be not nearly as fast a field as Chicago but hey we got the guys with name recognition. As we are getting closer the bottom seems to be falling out.
Ramaala is healthy but seems to run poorly when put in a position of being the front runner so he needs some company to run a good race. This was witnessed in the Olympics when he twice tried to make a break alone.
Tergat pulls out of the Great North race which means that we will see a less than 100% Paul Tergat. We saw this last year and justified his sub par win as a "tough course". WRONG. He simply was not very fit. The course in no way cost him 5 minutes.
Baldini runs terrible at Great North but realizes that he may be able to beat an aging (5 minutes off of his best) Paul Tergat. Also past his prime.
Meb drops out of a half marathon this weekend with a bad hammy. Is not 100%.
Ritz will make it interesting considering there are no A marathoners on their A game in the race accept maybe a non leader like Ramaala.
Culpepper who has not proven that he is one step better than his first marathon in Chicago. I don't consider Sell an A marathoner yet and Sell is currently better than Culpepper.
This race appears to have all the excitement of an old timers game with a rookie pitching. Big time boring.
