I think the marathon is tough, and training for the marathon is tough. From what she has said in interviews, Deena thinks its tough, and Haile G says it's tough this week in his interview with the Marathon Majors.
It strikes me cold, even as a huge Ritz fan, that he seems to be treating the marathon with a tad too little respect and the race itself sounds nearly like a done deal. Am I reading too much into it ? I just do not detect any trepidation in the interview and it's more like, "I'm just not sure how fast I'm going to run it. Might run with Tergat & check that out while I'm doing this race." Many first timers come across with a lot more wait & see perspective, and respect for the distance.
He & Hudson are making it out like Ritz & The ToBros (Torres) and the others on their team are all cut out from this genetically (sp?) perfect for marathoning cloth to now go grab their destiny as marathoners.
Don't pile on Ritz in this thread, there's enough of that already. I just wanted to see if anyone else thought they were treating the gravity of the marathon a bit lightly.
Then again, he is Ritz ! I cheer him on always, as now, and I cannot wait to see how the lad does. I hope he DOES run with Tergat.
