....world class speed. No neither did Tim Dwight. All fast footballers have world class speed, ever notice that?

13.26 110h in high school, even though it was wind aided that is pretty damn good. He is fast as hell, if he chose track he would be kicking some ass.
There are tons of "fast as hell" athletes playing football.Sure he's fast. He's just not "world class" fast. He is not a sub 10.20 sprinter.

Nor do all fast sprinters run track only. Many choose other sports, including football.

Jamaal Charles is.
Just some stats from high school....
1 Theodore Ginn Jr. 12 Cle. Glenvil 46.57Q 1
Event 4 Boys 110 Meter Hurdles 39"
========================================================================
State Meet: % 13.40 2004 Theodore Ginn Jr.(Cleveland Glenville)
State Meet: % 13.26 2004 Theodore Ginn Jr. W.A.(Cle. Glenville)
and from the 2004 AOC meet
"Ted Ginn’s 45.4 split pulled Glenville along for second place in 3:13.44 with Camden holding on for third place in 3:13.58."
Could Ted Ginn take on Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay, or Jeremey Wariner? Obviously not. However a 13.26 that was .4m/s over the legal limit and a 45.4 4x400 split as a high schooler does merit the title world class speed.
So is this guy going to run track?
He is a junior and I am guessing will be going pro in football; will he stick around and run some track or drop out and prepare for the NFL combine?
He hasn't run a race since he arrived at OSU. The men's coach and Tressel did not work together at all. They hired a new coach, but I would be shocked if he competed now. His father tells everyone he could win a track gold medal if he trained for it!
Dwight may not have had world-class speed but he was VERY, VERY good. Big 10 Athlete of the Meet his senior year.
He completely smoked the Jamaican "high schoolers" in the backstretch of the 4x100 at Penn Relays... that was world-class enough for me. :)
he could easily have world class speed if he focused exclusively on track.
Well he had enough speed to smoke the Texas defenders on Saturday didn't he?
i've heard that ginn's dad wants him to run track but there is some kind of conflict with track and football. i think part of the problem stems from him running hurdles. even though a hurdler only falls in maybe 5% of his/her races, that's all it takes to scare an AD or the head football coach. maybe if he was strictly a flat sprinter it would be different. OSU makes way more money off him playing football than they do him running track.
It has nothing to do with the hurdles. It is called spring ball. They have football practice full time right in the middle of the outdoor season. Some places make you chose, OSU is one of them. It is very hard to give both your all.
Very few high schoolers have world class speed. It takes a few years of work. If he put in that work, he would likely compete at a world class level.
I am a BYU fan but from what I saw he was plenty fast. Faster then anyone on Texas and they are not slow.
So does texas soph running back Jamaal Charles has speed 100 10.18, 200 20.63 and he was 5th I think at NCAAs in the 100.
It is very common knowledge through our team that Tressel asked Russ to give him a calendar of training before he turns over a bunch of fast track guys including Teddy. Anyone who knows Russ, knows he was completely unable to do so. Can't say for sure if any football players will be out, but if that's all it takes, the new coaches that are there now will have no problem being that organized. Tres always talks about how they have the fastest football 4 x 1 in the country.
