HA HA HA.......the great Goucher disappoints his rabid fans again.
(I thought, according to the experts on here, that Goucher after his World X-C performance would "definitely" be under 13:00 and 27:20 by this point in the season. What happened??)
...but was lapped in the process.
I'm a rabid fan of Goucher's and I am disappointed by this performance. But his worst day is about five minutes better per 5000 than your best day so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Holy crap that top 3 was SMOKIN'. What a race!
He beat two Kenyans - what more can you ask for?
I'm sorry, have I missed something? Since when is sub 28 not a decent performance?

Wasn't another top 'Merrikan supposed to race this 10K?
What you guys don't seem to understand is that the poster is not bashing Goucher or his perfomance, he is bashing the stupid jock sniffers who make the insane claims of sub 13 / sub 27 for their heroes. Sub 28 is an incredible feat; but it fell far short of the "expectations" of the dolts who post here who think that sub whatever is easy.
Without a doubt, most of the elite "bashing" is simply rubbing it in the faces of those who make lofty predictions for "their guy".
Everyone was talking about how Goucher was going under 27:20, so i guess expectations were just a little bit too high.
First of all running seems a hell of a lot easier when your sitting behind a computer. 27:59 is not great but not terrible either. It also depends on how he ran it...did he go out in 13:30 and die but still manage to finish in a decent time? If so it is a pretty tough effort.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I think drugs are expanding into other countries. UGANDA??? and who is ELI? These people just bust out 26:30-40s? WHAT THE HELL?
Agreed.

And from where on earth did the drugs come? A lab in a savannah or a rain forest? A lab in the largest Ugandan city? Whose the manufacturer/supplier of these drugs? Whose the dealer/pusher? Are their middlemen? How much does it cost to dope up well enough to run 26:30? Does the cost justify the reward? How much did the winner earn after manager's, coach's, and agent's fees/commissions?
for those of us who arent 12 years old, Uganda and Eritrea are both Eastern African countries in the vicinity of Ethiopia and Kenya. Boniface Kiprop and Zersanny Tadesse are excellent runners that have been around for the last 4-5 years posting performances over 5000m and 10000m that rival those of the Kenyan and Ethiopian elite. Just because there are not hoards of runners from these two countries doesnt mean they arent allowed to run fast. The centralized athletics organizations of those countries are terrible. They probably have only a basic system in place to find, recruit, and train their top athletes. If those countries had similar governmental systems/organizations in place that could compare with those of Ethiopia and Kenya then they would also have many more runners producing very fast times.
wasn't Torres suppose to run?
is this a PR for Goucher?

Agreed...
I got smashed because I said Goucher would run in the 27:30's.....shot I was being nice when I said that
I got bashed because I didn't worship Goucher and say he was going to get the American record in his first real attempt out there...
The hero worshippers just don't understand how hard it is to do some of these times. It takes training and experiance to run fast times...Goucher has the training but not the experiance to run a really good 10k....
Maybe next time he will be faster....but as I said before I don't think he will train seriously for a 10k...he loves the 5000 to much...

actually, you get bashed on here because you spent THREE YERAS telling anybody that would listen that goucher was washed up and would never get back to his old pr's...
AND YOU WERE WRONG.
Wasn't Bekele supposed to be in this 10,000?
