Hi, I'm new to the boards here.
I am currently in 8th grade when school starts, and am a competitive cross country runner.
I've been wondering how my times match up ( I looked through the threads on this board and could not find any times that were run by people around my age)
My 5k time is about 19:28 or so, and my mile is around 5:10.
Over the summer I have been doing around 6-8 miles a day every week (around 40-55 miles a week), mostly at high intensity or close to race pace. On my rest day (once a week) I do 3 miles at fairly low intensity.
I haven't really been doing any speedwork or fartlek, etc.
I usually run on cement, or on a treadmill.
I've been wondering how my times are, and how best to improve my times for the 5k/mile.
My goals by the end of the 8th grade year are to bring my mile down to about 4:50 and my 5k time to 18:40, or so.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to do so.
