How to stop drug cheats

Who would have jurisdiction to do such a thing? Go back to your happy meal.

How about we develop accurate tests that catch the cheats and don't ruin the lives of the innocent. Or maybe we could do it your way.

I think it would have to be done by the governing bodies, like the USTAF. This would be on top of the regular penalties. Sorry I don't eat happy meals Ronald.

Also to make the tests more accurate, if you were in the top 10-20 in your event in the country you would have to do bi-monthly blood/urine tests to have a standard to measure future tests against.

So I guess you just got all the answers then!

Governing bodies have no authority to enforce fines.

We should design genetically engineered athletes and raise them in paramilitary style camps from birth. Every moment of their existence will be according to the design of plan, so there will be no drugs for them. Just like in that movie "Soldier".

Over the past month, Floyd Landis, Justin Gatlin, and Marion Jones have been caught. Jan Ullrich, perhaps among others, has a police dossier liable to send him to jail.

Don't you think that maybe the authorities are doing OK with the powers that they already have?

Make them take these pills to compete. The pills would react with high levels of such things as EPO, and HGH. These drugs would kill the athlete. I think this would be a good deterrent.

or... fine the drug cheats heavily and use the money to fun testing research.

My thought exactly. If you're caught for doping in the future, have them be contractually liable to repay the money.

They should have justice the Saudi Arabian way...you cheat, we cut off a limb. Cheat again, cut another limb off....so yea thats how they do it.

USTAF has its own police force and court system? Think about it guy.

How are your defining that "period" of time?

The positive test would only represent a single instant in time. You'd need two tests to define a period.

Or are you referring to the period between when they gave the sample that tested positive and when the B sample was finally tested to confirm their guilt? This could be as short as a few days or couple of weeks to something as long as a few months (as it appeared to be the case for Gatlin).

As a spectator, you're paying to see an event. Wearing Nike shoes you're buying into an image, a brand, because of who wears the shoe. That's how they market it. In some reguards is this not false advertising? Would a class action lawsuit against the sponsors be legal? Maybe get the sponsors to straighten out what they've been getting away with for years.

Easier said than done. Plus, don't they usually have to have the drug in use to develop a test for it? If it's a new drug, it may take quite a while before it can be tested for, and it may be in use for a while before it's even discovered that athletes have been using it!

I see this war on doping going the way the US War on Drugs is going. Throwing a lot of money at something that's not going to change.
