I think beer miling is the future of American distance running. We can't win actual events, so do like what we did with the winter Olympics--introduce events that only our country cares about (snowboarding in the Winter Olympics). Promote beer miling, get guys like Webb to train for it and America's natural affinity for drinking should allow us to beat the best in the world. The only problem I think we would have would be with our buds across the pond...

So I like how now the pictures aren't working after someone mentions suspensions. And if nobody else already told you guys, they beat you to the bringing out of the beer mile into big time competition. They are going to call it.....
BEERFEST!!!
It's funny that in the corresponding fixture at Loughborough (4 x 20oz) the event has received coverage in Today's Runner and Athletics Weekly in the past with the winner receiving props and the university being proud of the event (and the fact that Loughborough consumes the most alcohol per head in Europe - a recuitment visit selling point in the past)
Correction: the Uni is definately NOT proud of this event. It's for that reason that George Gandy has to watch from outwith the stadium, and that we got a lot of trouble from the powers that be for advertising the event round campus in 2000 (even though it was to promote our Chunder Mile sponsor that year!)
Bump
So it looks like besides other things Eugene can also run the beer mile. Very impressive time!
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Ryan Eiler, 3rd American man at Boston, almost out of nowhere
