It was a joke. But after doing extensive research and receiving a heated email I have changed the front page from W. Virginia to Mississippi.
Hopefully no one from Mississippi will be able to read the front page to be able to complain. If they do, I will have to change it to my homestate of Texas. Everyone in Texas knows we are better than everyone else so we won't care what is said about our IQs.
What's really funny are the percentages of high school students from "blue" states that took the ACT.

Deleware 3%
Massachusetts 7%
New Jersey 4%
New York 14%
No wonder they all got pissy about No Child Left Behind. Great stats from states whose leaders think throwing more money at education will solve the problems!

What exactly are those statistics supposed to prove? Students living in the North East take the SAT.
I wasn't going to bring this up but since you did I will.
All the blue states are the ones with the HIGHEST IQ rating!! By far!
Did you really think that only 4% of people in any state would take a college entrance exam?! I'm guessing you did not contribute to your states percentage in that category.

I'd like to hear from a psychologist about the accuracy of predicting IQ's from SAt or ACT scores. My college professor was a psychologist and showed us how real IQ tests were administered. They are nothing like an college entrance exam.

You can't. To get the true reading the entire battery of tests needs to be administered.

I think it's easy to see why some of the smaller states are up there...less people skew could be more to the smart side. Then CA is up there and blows my theroy. Which is hard to believe Cali has to have lot's of dumb people hard to believe they don't pull the average down more.
The two polygamy states come in at 48th and 49th with IQs of 87. Explains a lot.
First of all, you obviously just typed these out from your head. No state is going to have an avg IQ of 113!
You also placed Missouri (MO)on there twice. I am sure you meant one to be Montana but that just goes even further to prove you made that up. No real SCIENTIFIC study is going to jack up something as simple as state abbreviations.

I teach in NY State and we have students move in from out of state. We get their grades from all of their honors classes, they come into our school and can't make it. They complain about how hard it is.
We hav standards that no one else has. No child left behind comes from a laughing stock state as far a education goes. It is so far below what we already do in NY it is a joke.
It's easy to leave no one behins when you expect them to go that slow.

I wonder if it's coincidence that CT has Yale, MA has Harvard, NJ has Princeton, NY has Columbia and Cornell, RI has Brown, (HA is not a state abbreviation), MD has the Naval Academy, and NH has Dartmouth, and these are the top 8 (well, 7, HA isn't a state) states. Can such a small concentration of bright people bring up an entire state's IQ that much? Maybe...if you count professors and alumni.
