Hi, Henry! How are you feeling?

My head and my physical generally are both feeling great;however, the sharp pain from the quad didn't stick out his pain;however, there was pain at the hamstring that was very sensitive if I had to pick it out with the needle i would.Because it was a sharp small pain in one place.

Another worse thing was the new shoes that it felt as my feet was inside the rocks,I had hard time running aroung the corners.

One problems was shoe
Two problem was pain in the hamstring
Three problem was extra weight on my shouders
Fourth problem I got scare of Noland Shaheed meeting him for the first time.
Five problem I didn't get massage the night before.........

And ON and ON...... until you know me well and what I need right.

great pics....when Henry looks like Nolan; then we will see something! (or get Nolan to put 25 lbs of weight in a back pack to carry while he races; to even it out).

NO heneeds 50lbs to even it out with me right. He is 121lbs and I'm 171lbs.

Nolan seems like a very nice guy. I think he'd be the first to admit that he could never run as fast as you are running now if he weighed as much as you do.

You've accomplished a tremendous amount in the last year, Henry. You should be proud of that. But if you want to compete with someone like Nolan, you know what you have to do. Because no amount of talent, hard training, and mental toughness can overcome the handicap of carrying 25 or 30 extra pounds during a race.

Anyway, you sound good tonight. I'm glad.

Today is the anniversary of Henry's 8:05.4 steeple WR, set at the Northwest Relays, Husky Stadium at the University of Washington, May 13, 1978, before about 200 onlookers.

From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer: "He was not pushed to the record since the second-place finisher, Club Northwest's Jim Johnson [then still the UW record holder at 8:41.0] finished a half-lap behind in 8:36.1."

"Johnson said later, 'It was really two races--Henry, and the rest of us. You know, if he had any hurdling technique, he'd have broken eight minutes today.'"

Johnson continued, "I was close enough to watch him for the first two laps, and his hurdling form looked ragged to me. If he had the technique of the top steeplechasers--I don't include myself in that category--he would have been under eight minutes easily."

I liked seeing the photos of you at Canby, Henry. Hope you can heal from the injuries and keep going!

I was comparing the photos from yesterday to the photos from almost 2 months ago. Is it my imagination or has he not lost any weight in 2 months? What's going on? Is the comeback really serious or not?

I'm back in my house.

I'm now thinking and thinking for the next plans, since I have met Noland Shaheed and many other masters division guys. How come Salazar was not there? This is Salazar home nike town.He should have show up and queeze few laps with me.

I got good passing greetings from Jeff Holister an old friend of 1978, when I was hot in track & field.I think my fame is emerging(coming) fom the woods and I look like a monster.Makes the media becoming interested and my old friends are coming back. They like my running art of work.

Noland says,"You are making us great Henry Rono!!!" in the masters divisin.

Kevin got me some four pairs of show from Nike. They have made some shoes that were not there 29 years ago. There are great!!!
It seem like Nike people are becoming great too.

Thanks Kevin for the shoes.

Is it my imagination or are you about the same weight as you were 2 months ago in the pictures from your 1st race? Have you settled on your current weight?

YEAH ! I will just wait for me because this time around I'm taking baby steps because I growing again as a child does right!

I will tell my mind to slow down for sure. Now he remembers the muscles is too old to speed up the body. The mind and body has to get along very well.Instead of pushing one another all along the way and never get anything done.I have to hold the horses no matter how I frustrate them. I get to go!

It sounds like wishful thinking.

I think that your approach was working very well for a while. You were getting stronger at the same time that you were losing fat. But your progress seems to have stalled lately.

I think that you already have the muscle and the strength. You just need to lose the fat. You seem to be training enough. So you probably just have to eat less.

right Avacado...I'm not buying that bs from Henry either. He's not kidding anybody. He knows that he hasn't cut down on his massive eating, considering how much he's running.

I don't think he's missing any meals.

Henry,

Salazar was almost certainly at Stanford all weekend for the Pac-10 Championship meet. He is a personal coach for one of the Oregon long distance runners, Galen Rupp, who won the 5000 and 10,000.
