he's either taking it easy or that hammy is still bothering him
btw did hall tied his 1500 pr??
dude somethings weird
if his hamstring is bothering him that bad I doubt hes stupid enough to keep racing and if it is he needs to stop
if i were his coach (which i am not, nor am I as knowledgable or informed as the person who is) id say a week off, long break from racing to get some good training, and gear up for 1 or 2 good races at the end of the summer
i agree, a race like this should never happen (or at least not 3 times in a row)
Oh no, Webb is reverting back to 2003 form.
The wacky career of Webb continues to amaze.
one of the most inconsistent runners ever
Are any of you 12 year olds runners? Nothing's "weird" about this. He tweaked his hamstring over a month ago and this is his first race back since then. If his hammy is feeling OK after this one, the result is encouraging. Things will fall back into place quickly.

Lets see, ALL of last year he ran solid races. Hell, he even made the WC final. He gets injured and now he is the most inconsistent ever? WTF?
Malmo, of course has it right on Webb.
Amazing that Hall continues to get a pass from posters and has not yet run his HS PR at 1500, not once , 5 years later, despite running 13:16 5K.
I still do not quite get that one, never have.
Webb is better and more consistant than us. Unless of course you guys consistantly suck ass. Which, by your posts is entirely possible. Let the dude race some and get back into form.
Hahaha its so funny looking at the posts about Webb. When he ran his 10k people were all over his nuts, now he has a few off races due to injury and hes a washed up loser. Quit the dissin, your dissing your own sport and the guys that rep your country.
People are expecting Webb to save US mile running alone. No wonder they get frustrated when he gets hurt or does not perform up to potential. If Lukezic and Myers got down to 3:50 for the mile there would be more depth in US mile running and less anger directed at Webb when he falls short.
Interesting, Webb has to bear the weight and frustration of US distance running. One runner can't do it alone. Besides, there are other US stars now like, Ritz, Hall, Dobson, Lagat, Johnson, and Meb.
In a country of 270 million people there has to be another sub 3:50 miler out there.
Webb running the 10k in hindsight was probably a mistake. Now he will stick with the mile, which makes the injury probably a blessing in disguise.
I don't think running the 10000 was a mistake at all. Yes, he got injured in a mile race a few weeks later, but nobody knows if that 10000 contributed to it. In any event, he ran a superb time for a 10000 debut, and if nothing else, it demonstrates that he has amazing range and potential at a variety of distances. I look for big things to come from him this summer in the 1500-5000.
Actually, I don't get why he's racing if he can't break 3:46. That's 14 seconds off his p.r.! He should be able to do that with one hand tied behind is back. If he's that rusty he needs to be training, not racing. Malmo, you're an expert,do your really think he should be racing if his form is this off?
remember Lagat's comment about fitting in strength training and beind unable to do as well in the 1500, but doing exceptionally well in the 5000? I think that we're seeing that here with Webb's performance in the Cardinal 10K and his relative lack of success at the shorter distances.
Remember, both Webb and his coach have stated that they are focusing on strength this year. He's probably setting himself up to run a really good 5000.

YES. The purpose of training isn't to train, it's to race.
