Find a new coach Ritz. You can run the American record. But you need to focus on the 10k, solely. Stop worrying about the marathon. Worry about sharpening his skills on the track first, then move up with years of physical and mental maturation...Just my opinion...

Say what you want you know this board cares 10 times more about Ritz and his finish than Abdi.
Im not even going to go into why but I bet 90% of the people on the web feed or on this board right after want to hear about Ritz.
Wrong or right for whatever reason thats the truth.
Abdi now #3 on the all-time U.S. list.
Abdi is not exactly the all american kid...
I was rooting for Abdi! Ritz will be inconsistent at best until he finds other guidance.
!!!Go Abdi!!!!
Hi ... i beat rhitz by 200 meters.. in my first race in europe...
Rhitz does not deserve to sniff my jock strap
2:35 for my last Kilometer.
VIVA ETHIOPIA!!! leave the running to us... Rhitzenhiem ... go play hockey..
Big props to Abdi!
To bad the majority of track fans wont look at you in a good enough light to care about it though.
Youre not the all-american white boy the US wants. Simple fact it sucks I wish it wasnt true I dont agree with it. It dosent seem like you will ever shake it though. But 27:22 is 27:22 and a great race!

I know what you mean by this, but Abdi's story is the classic immigrant story. Most of us Americans have at least one ancestor that immigrated to the US and did well.
Congrats to Abdi!
ritz and dobson were solo after 3km
He still ran a 27:45 at the end of May. I'd take it.
Great run for Abdi. Nice PR.
typical american, getting *ss kicked on the track so go run in the road races where B/C level Kenyans roam.

Congrats to Abdi!
Wouldn't that be ALL of us? Some happened to come 10,000 years ago, others 500 years ago, and others came entirely against their will, but all of us came from somewhere else at some point.
Abdi seems to have run in the shadow of others, so this 27:22 may move him out of those shadows.
Geez! What happened to the last posts, the ones about Flag Pole??? They weren't abusive, profane or anything but perhaps mildly critical of FW. Let the speculation begin.
I hope this is not the case, but could this be the year of disappointment for American distance running?
I'm not a pessimist. But I hope this isn't one of those years where everyone gets excited because of a great race in the early season (Webb vs Ritz 10k), makes a bunch of wild predictions about how they'll crush records this season, then the season comes along and everyone fizzles like a limp erection.
Hope Webb kicks ass at Pre to stop this from happening...
