What a waste of money
What a waste of money
I would think that you mean 500,000 czech crowns maybe. Thats worth about $500
Unfortunately no.
thanks for pointing this out. I updated the homepage.
The way I see it, wejo is trying to fuel a fire. Reminds me of supermarket tabloid journalism. Shame on wejo.
No doubt, racewalking is lacking respect. We all understand why. However, it is an Olympic event, requires tremendous endurance and training, has a long and rich history, it is practiced in many countries worldwide. I really don't agree with whining over the money. I celebrate these athletes earning a modest sum for their performances.
I can think of a lot better instances of money and sport that need scrutiny before we degrade another Olympic event.
GET OVER IT.
Seriously. If you hate the event, don't pay attention to it.
quit being a dork. racewalking is one of the most ridiculous activities ever invented in the history of gay and lesbian culture. I don't care if someone wants to pay them or it's in the olympics--nothing will ever make that "sport" respectable.

Agreed.
People only act like this when they are trying to compensate for poor self confidence caused by (1) a lack of intellect, and/or (2) a lack of genitalia size.
You make the call...
same $$ breakdown more or less as world cross.
I've posted this before here, but just in case you missed it:
A friend of mine who is a film maker and actor is in this movie about race walking (it's a comedy).
http://www.myspace.com/davidtomorrow
That's my bearded friend at the end with the terrific line said to the race walker.
Hope you like it.
Most of the comedic videos that are on the net are hilarious. If you can't laugh at yourself, then you shouldn't laugh at others. Conversely, the childish crap and venomous bend toward the walk here is as stupid as the people who post it.
It's me, guys. Just dropping in to let you know I put up the money as my continuing design to destroy the perception of athletic achievement in humanity.
Think I'm a fraud? Full of it? Look at what I've done with poker.
Keep your mouths shut, and stop complaining, or I will make you all badminton players in my deepest pit. Or perhaps something even wimpier, like........say racewalkers.
Until then......
Don't hate what you can't do. Try racewalking just a mile and see how it feels. Racewalkers, runners, cyclists, triathletes, we are all brothers in sweat. Get off your high horse.
Get rid of racewalking? Well then lets get rid of the hurdle events and steeplechase. Why put some obstacle in the way that slows you down? Triple jump goes too, why triple? Why not double or quadruple jump? Pointless.
You want to complain about the prize money in Racewalking? Then stop complaining, go over there and win it if it's so pointless and "gay".
Alan
Ok, maybe a little hasty on my comment. BUT is this event really on par with W Indoors/ Cross etc?
Commercially I struggle to understand how they justify this. JMHOpinion.
The IAAF thinks so. Look at the participation list. The world cup of walking has about the samenumber of countries as world cross.
It is in the Race Walking community.

Hey buddy I think you should take that attitude over to
www.letswalk.comAnyone who has watched race walking will realize that its basically an activity that uses the ILLUSION that they are keeping in line with the rules. This is the laughable "sport" that somehow has slipped through the cracks to be termed as legitimate. It is a JUDGED event open to subjective opinion. Its not the person who can get from point A to point B the fastest while walking but rather the individual that can fool the judges into appearing to be "walking." There is no place for subjective opinion in Track and Field and there is no place for race walking. Yes there are rules in track and field but these rules govern the events, not DETERMINE THE OUTCOME. Are these guys fit? yes. Highly trained? yes. However, $500,000.00 in prize money? Really? This is an embarrassment and completely outrageous.
