brown FTW!
Princeton looks pretty tough in the 5 and the 10. They might go 1-2-3 in both. Cornell's Baird looks like a lock in the Steeple, but look for that slew of Columbia guys to be led by a freshmen. On a similar note Cornell's Aarlinghuas got 2nd as a freshman 2 years ago and looks strong. In the 1500 look for Jaworski, Wyner and True everyone else is running for 4th.
800 - Carmody (if either Jaworski or Wyner runs they will beat him)
1500 - True (best race of the meet, by far. had a hard time picking between him and Jaworski)
5k - True (in a kick, if he runs. otherwise Nightingale)
Steeple - Jeff Randall (he's run 8:15 for 3k, he's a freshman, and in his only steeple ever he ran 9:05. sounds like an upset...)
10k - Macreery (unless he gets hit by a bus)
Cornell has a shot at 1-2 in the steeple, 10K is a crapshoot depending on how the race is run (pace-wise), and MacCreery looks good in the 5K. 1500 will be a blood-bath between the above three mentioned. A question might be whether Penn concedes the meet and Jaworski only runs either the 1500 or the 800. Either way, this sets up nicely for Carmody, who will have a clean run at the 800 with outside threats from a bunch of 1:50 folks.
Unrelated, with the low profile Saretsky hiring which will not improve Harvard that quickly, Cornell men have a decent shot at tying the 7 straight Heps titles held by Penn (1971-1977).
I don't usually comment on these things, but I'm bored so...

While no one can argue that Macreery *should* be the favorite, there's probably a good chance that someone will bump up from the 1500 or 5k, like Tarpy did last year. Given the level of competition at the shorter distances this year, the 10k is going to look like the soft race. Maybe Dantzer gives it a shot? This would make Macreery's job a lot harder, though not impossible.
Obviously if it's a 29-flat race no one can hold a candle to Macreery, but I think the odds of that happenning are about the same as a thread started by the Dartmouth guys lasting more than half on hour before getting deleted.
if they enter these events... because you never know at heps...
men:
800- jaworski (penn)
1500- true (dartmouth)
5k- macreery (princeton)
10k- burke (brown)
steeple- baird (cornell)
women:
800- uceny (cornell)
1500- ferjan (brown)
3k- donaldson (yale)
5k- ferrell (princeton)
10k- stublic (columbia)
steeple- willard (brown)
burke over macreery? ferjan over ferrell and donaldson? willard over stublic?
go brown?
ok, good points. i'll defend my post.
i admit i have no idea who is running the women's 1500 at all. so that was from last year's results and this year's rumors. i have heard ferrell will do the 5k, which would make the 1500 a pretty rough double. i also heard donaldson will look to do the 3k fresh due to injury.
i wanted to pick one serious upset (men's 10k).
willard is pretty strong on the direct athletics list all the way from the 800 to the 5k. i don't see stublic with that sort of depth right now, especially if she's racing the 10k the night before, like she's done in past years.
sorry for appearing biased.

What about Lindsey Scherf? And Bierbaum?
Willard looked very good at Penn Relays.
Anyone know if Penn's Jesse Carlin will be running the 800m? She split a 2:06.1 at Penn Relays in the 4x8. Any way you slice it that's smoking. May be the only person in the league who could pose a threat to Uceny.
My Heps predictions:
800 - True
1500 - True
Steeple - True
5000 - True
10000 - True
4x4 - True
ALL of Ben True's genes are dominant. He sticks his hands in boiling water for fun.
He's better than you at EVERYTHING - and doesn't even care!
whats most impressive is that ben true will be running all of these events with cross country skis on.
Didn't Uceny split a 2:03 at Penn Relays? I think she will win it.
What about Scherf and Bierbaum? I know that Bierbaum is still recovering from injury and I think Scherf must be injured, too. Too bad -- it would be great to see them both run the 10K again!!!
800- Uceny
1500- This will be close, but I'll go with Mullen from Princeton...she split a 3:23 at Penn
3000- Cack Ferrell...she destroyed a fresh Donaldson indoors, running under 9:20 less than two hours after setting the meet record in the mile. With more time to recovery after the 5k, she should be untouchable.
5000- Ferrell
10k- Betting that Bierbaum shows up at runs to a NCAA qualifying time

According to the results, Uceny split 2:11.4. Carlin has the 3rd fastest split listed behind Rebecca Johnstone (2:05.2) and Katara Rosby (2:04.9). I think that's really impressive for a girl who has always been a 400m runner and only run the 800 a few times on relays.
uceny split 2:03 in the sprint medley at penn not the 4x8
800- Uceny
1500- I go with Columbia's Hendrick surprising alot of people
3K- Donaldson
5k- Ferrell
10k- Bierbaum (if she runs?)
steeple- Stublic

Ok, thanks. I hadn't seen that.
