Here's a question: Should Deena be allowed to run in the men's trials race? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, let her run.

No, because she has mommy parts..........
This is a truly silly, pointless question, and I think you know that
Now that I got THAT out of the way, more to the point is the question of whether Deena should have to run any marathon trial at all. She is ten minutes better than the second best currently active American woman. If the point is to select the best possible Olympic team, I'd leave it to her to decide whether she thinks an etxra 26.2-mile race against Americans would help prepare her for Beijing. If that goes against the notion that the Olympic Trials are supposed to be a fair and equitable system for everyone, well...so what. The others can compete for two spots.

I agree, that is why I responded with a truly silly, pointless answer!
Yes!!! She ABSOLUTELY should be allowed in. At the same time, since I qualified for the trials under the women's standard (an A qualifier, btw), I should not only be allowed in that race, but I should be comped, too.
I can't WAIT to get me a few scalps!
I've always wanted to be a Trials qualifier, and now my dream has been realized!
What place would she get in the men's trial race? Basing off the 2004 results below, I'd say around 25th.

yes, cos it'll give her an uber-fast time, and it'd be great to watch.
Why is it a silly question? There are guys slower than her that get to run in the guy's race.

Well my friend, you must be new around here. Welcome to yet another topic thread from MNApologist!!
It's kind of like saying if a woman can pee standing at a urinal, they should be allowed to use the boys room. Even if they can write thier name in the snow, I still think men's race for men and woman's race for women.
Not exactly a surprise:
Lighten up, bro. My threads are harmless. Who is the victim in this thread?
test
It would be very interesting to see what the psychological effect of having her in the race would be? I'm guessing that she would finish 18th.
Some guys would run better, and some would choose to drop out instead of fading to 2:24 and losing to her.
She didn't win the women's trial last time. That is why they have a trial. She dnf'd NY too. there is no guarantee she will even finish any trial.
If Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam can play in events on the men's PGA tour, I can't see any reason that Deena should not be allowed to run the men's trials marathon.
On the other hand, I can't think of any reason for her to want to do so.
Very good point. It would be interesting to see what effect her running would have on the men around her.
Hell Yes!
If she makes the standerd then by all means let her run! Not her fault she would make most of our team look bad:)
if she runs trials with the men, then let her compete for a spot with the men. there is no reason whatsoever for her to run with the men. just because she can beat some of them doesn't mean she should be in the race with them? some high school girls can beat some high school boys, but i don't see them trying to go to states with the boys. also, if a high school boy hit the womens standard they wouldn't be allowed to run in the womens trials....so, hell no she shouldn't be allowed to.
