I'm wondering about Louie Quintana, distance coach at Arizona State? What were his prs in high school, college, post-collegiate? What kind of success did he have, if any? Has he done much as a coach at ASU? Thanks

Yeah, pretty sure that link doesn't work...Plus, it doesn't give any of the information about prs or successes as a runner that i asked about...but thanks anyway. Anybody else know anything?
Oh but it does, my benighted little friend. It does.
Alright, man, just try and click on the link. Maybe it's just my computer that doesn't work, maybe. Either way, thanks for trying to hook me up with some info. Appreciate it.
i can't give you all the details. but quintana was a HS stud who was going to be the next great american miler. he ran something like 4:01 or 4:03 in HS. went to villanova, wom the big east XC champs in 1993. not sure of collegiate PRs, but i know he lost all his eligibility when he posed for an eastbay catalog i believe.
if you do a google search on "louis quintana villanova" there will be an ASU link that works. but you have to register to view it.
Then copy/paste it into another browser window. If you can't do that, go to the ASU athletic department website (it's the part of that url that ends in ".com") and navigate your way to the coaches' bios on the T&F roster page. It clearly lists his successes. If you need the numbers, go to tilastopaja.com
FYI, "JayRuns" is full of CRAP!
Yeah I do know for sure that he didn't lose eligibility or any such thing...but if you're into fabricating ridiculous stories...

by the way, i was disagreeing with jayruns and agreeing with livewrong...i don't want to start any unnecessary arguments.
i'm sorry, i didn't actually mean to make that up...i thought i remembered that being true! not even kidding. did i imagine that? did that happen to someone else? did i have a seizure or something. i really wasn't even joking. sorry, i didn't mean to impune his good name.
my apologies.
Louie Quintana is a legendary runner from California 1990 Footlocker Cross Country Champion. Pr's of 4:07 and 1:50 in High School. At Villanova he was a 7 time all american running 4:00 for the mile, 3:40 for 1500 and 7:58/13:53 for the 3k and 5k. He battled injuries throughout his career and now is using his experiences to guide the SunDevils. Hope that helps....

no, i actually think you are correct. louie lost some eligibility his senior year. i don't think it was for eastbay, but it was for promoting apparel in a catalog. you weren't making it up.

ah, i thought so!
at least i'm not going completely crazy. only slightly crazy.
BTW, i wasn't trying to be judgemental or rip on the guy. an excellent runner and coach by all accounts. just passing along information.
I am not sure if what your asking for it to make a connection to his personal performance as a runner to how good he coaches because it only has a very small amount to do with that. In case your not aware, a very talented coach JOE VIGIL, played football, he was not a distance runner.
