You've nailed it. Athletics Canada will take the credit for all the wonderful things their athletes do, but this one has been allowed to largely go her own way with no structured coaching plan and no medical or psychological support. The girl needs big time help!

One awaited it much in Athens. Large disappointment, especially for it. A rather poor stopwatch draws aside it from the finale.

Is it me, or was babelfish programmed by Yoda? Mmmm, translation not so good it is.

Kidding aside, I hope she gets this all straightened out. Championships or not, she obviously has an inate love of just plain running.

You're missing the point: Babelfish is the name of the online translation service. He wasn't criticizing the poster, but the service.

I shore 'nuff hope say don't go into no acting profession. Them folks all like to tell each other to "Go break a leg" and such. That would prolly make ol Emillie cry like a sweating hog in August.

Complete agreement with track fan. The photos don't lie, and the 'genetic' component is crap. She's anorexic, and needs help.

Its a shame. I have seen her race many times. She is both a fierce competitor but also someone who absolutely loves the sport. Its sad that this happens when there are many top female runners who show that you do not have to be anorexic to be successful. Joan Benoit, Lynn Jennings, Ingrid Kristiannsen and many others.

Yes I agree with you....and I was not blaming AC....only stating that there is very little knowledge and help for a anorexic in track. she was thin and sick looking for a long time, but simply becasue she was running fast, no one bothererd to intervene to help her. I feel that coaches have a ethical obligation to speak up when a athlete is ill. Anorexics can usually run fast a year or two before their bodies fall apart on them. I hope she can get the help she needs, as she is a incredibel talent.

At one time she was engaged:

She's a bit of a character but gregarious and affable. I always liked her.

What is the altitude at Mammouth lake? Did anyone notice how common low bone mass is in runners that train at altitude (Colorado...). Of course, you need to be inclined to have low bone density in the first place, but it certainly does not seem to help.

I met her a few times early in her career, and in one year (her "breakthrough") she looked to have lost maybe 10-15 lbs on an already lean physique (I'd guess from about 115 to 100-105). I commented on how "lean" she looked, and she immediately retorted with how much she eats. I kind of like her French (Canadian)-style enthusiasm and straightforwardness, but she obviously has a huge blind spot on this issue. Hope she gets the help she needs.

There is no intentions of retirement for Emilie Mondor.
She is physically and mentally healthy and is working on a genetic problem present in her family. She is looking foward racing soon and is still training in Mammoth Lakes.
Untrue statements and opinions were stated bellow as she has given no public interviews expect what was mentioned on her web site.
No further appearances will come until she resumed racing soon.

Oh boy. If Emile retires then in a few years she'll turn into whale that works for USATF. Ever see the USATF staff of lard-ohs at meets. USATF sets a lousy example for healthy dieting.

USATF can sponsor her for a green card. A part of the 2006 USATF Fat Body Acceptance program.
