who runs the 4x200
anyone who runs indoor track. and yes, like a 4x1 if you want to run fast
...with batons
Like 4x4. Cautious and overhand
We do visual hand-offs for the indoor 4x200 (high school). Others do blind. There are pros and cons to both.
No set way. You can go blind or 4 x 4 style. I'll assume you are talking about indoor, because outdoor I would always go blind.
If you have a blazing lead off leg that is sure to give you a lead, I think blind is the way to go. We cut our steps in almost half from the 4 x 1. If your leadoff doesn't give you the lead then the handoffs in traffic are CRAZY if you are going blind. Definitely an event you want to get the lead and maintain it. Of course if you get stuck in lane one indoor, your leadoff will be at a distinct disadvantage anyway.
We've done both....we practice both and base the decision on our personel and what the kids are comfortable with.
Most indoor meets by the way have no acceleration zone which makes it more interesting, and second leg breaks down immediately...ie two turn stagger.
Good luck.
