I finally saw it this weekend. I really enjoyed it, what were your opinions of it? It touched on a number of sensitive social issues. |

Definitely one of the best movies I've seen. The storyline is crazily well put together. I would recomment it to anyone |

its somewhat simplistic in the way everything is assembled and the developments of the archetypal characters... it definately brings its message across well, but as a work of art it does not account ot much |

Fun movie, sorta disturbing but absorbing. Bought the soundtrack...haunting. |

Ludacris was a thinly veiled Robin Hood. I liked the movie but felt like it was based on a cheap movie trick: make the audience think that a character is one way (either make them love or hate the character) and then have the character do something to change the audience's mind. Almost every major character in the movie starts out a jerk and turns out to be good or vice versa. For a couple minutes after the movie I felt like I had been dragged on an emotional rollercoaster. But yeah, I usually don't cry and that movie brought tears to my eyes (like the little girl getting shot sceen). And when I think about my critique it can be said that's the reason why the movie is good. Whatever though. Don Ceadle's looks like a gorilla with those eyes. |

Was this movie about racism? Was it that obvious? |

The movie was about racism. It's a good flick. It wasn't as transparent as we're making it seem here. Well, actually it will seem so now, if you read this thread before watching it. But either way, it's a good flick. |

Yes, some of it is contrived, but it's remarkably powerful, and the second altercation between Matt Dillon and Thandie Newton really did leave the audience I was watching it with gasping and shaking. I won't call it a perfect movie, but it's easily the best I've seen this year...richer and deeper than "Capote" or "Good Night and Good Luck." |

I agree that it just touched the surface. I kept wanting it to go deeper and it never did. I thought it was a good movie but not great. |

It was a ripoff of "Magnolia" and "21 Grams". Plain and simple. This movie was made in the editing room. Not on the set. They couldn't even come up w/ an original name - much better "Crash" was made w/ Holly Hunter, James Spader et al. If you enjoy film, wait until dollar night at Blockbuster. This one is not worth it. |

I thought it was a modern day "Steel Magnolias." |
| not so great |

Ok, we get it, everyone has two sides to them. Way to hamfistedly drive that home for two hours. Crash had good moments, but overall I was pretty disappointed. Nothing special. |

"Magnolia" was SO much better.. but "Crash" was still AMAZING |

c'mon, a movie with Matt Dillon and Sandra Bullock trying to act seriously about racism just didn't work for me. I was waiting for the punchline. This movie would have been better as black comedy. I think only white suburbans think this movie is revolutionary. It makes them feel good. |

Crash was an awful movie. This over-the-top maudlin bs has got to stop. |

Forgettable. Again the Motion Picture Academy shows that you should give sh!t about what movies they award. Lowest common denominator rules. If you wanna pick your movies by awards, there are about a million film festivals whose winners you should rate higher than the Oscars. |

Great movie. I thought it was very entertaining. Great editing and clever screenplay. Sometimes too clever? if that makes sense. Thought the ensemble cast worked. Someone mentioned Dillon and Bullock seemed out of place, I actually thought Fraser was the most out of place and thought Dillon was awesome. Ever see Wild Things? That's a role similar. Even the freakin Outsiders. Dillon played his role well. Ya Fraser was the only one I had a problem with. Ludacris was exceptional. I thought Larenz Tate was really good too. He played his character well. SPOILER: To the person who complained about all the characters being different in the end...that's the point. They wanted a resolution instead of just having them continue to be the way they are. It didn't want to be one of those movies that just abruptly ended and the resolution was no resolution. |

I saw Brokeback and Munich too and thought Crash was better. Didn't see Capote, but I heard that was very good. I'm pretty happy that Brokeback didnt win cause I hate favorites winning. But mostly because the story was good, but it just seemed like another love affair to me. Maybe it's just me, but it was easy for me to look past the fact it was two white cowboys from WY, but after the initial "shock" of the homosexuality, I felt like I was watching a soap opera. As for Munich, I thought the action and shot composition was awesome. I was really into it for such a long movie. The violence was well done. I think I liked the movie more than others because the Munich Olympic hostage crisis always intrigued me...kinda like some people are fascinated by JFK's assassination. So the events after...I just thought it was exciting even though it was unlikely. Eric Bana was really good in it. |
