I've been running really badly recently, gone from 71mins half marathon to 80mins and it's killing me.
This morning, I collapsed at home and went to hospital. They gave me a blood test and the doctor said everything was OK. He gave me a copy of the results and when I got home I had a look and there are a few flags on the results. Could anyone help me by telling me what they mean:
Urea 8.4 mmol/l
Predicted GFR 78
Total protein 61 g/l
Haemoglobin 13.3
White cell count 4.2
Hamatocrit 0.381
MCHC 34.9
PT 14.5
It says at the bottom of the sheet, note the slightly raised PT. Whatever that means.
I ran a race yesterday and don't know if that might affect things. I'm 27 years old and a little frustrated that he didn't explain the results to me, when there are all these Rs (refer) on the sheet.
Am I OK? I have bought some ferrous sulphate this afternoon as I know that the results mean my haemaglobin is low. Should I try these? I am really worried as I keep feeling dizzy and tired all the time and yet the doctors don't seem to care. Not to mention I'm really pissed that I keep losing to people who couldn't even jog with me in races.
If anyone could help, I would be really grateful.
I am going to see my doctor again tomorrow because I want to know what these results mean but as he's not a runner and only concerned with people who are really ill, I don't think it will be worthwhile.
Thanks anyways
