5 years ago I turned an ankle in a hole on a trail, all my weight on it. Couple years back I found out in a x-ray that I likely fractured a small bone or two when i hit that hole. The bones are fused together again, and I don't have foot pain, but my mechanics in that foot are definitely changed, and this has caused knee pain. The pain seems similar to a severe chrondomalacia, with my knee not tracking correctly (its like my foot lands on the outside heel, pronates a decent amount, and then supinates again through pushoff)
I feel like my only two options are a) some sort of surgery to correct the foot biomechanics, b) arthroscopic knee surgery to remove the scar tissue that has undoubtedly built up (I was able to run well on and off for a few years, now almost nothing) or c) both to be most effective.
option b would be easier, but it seems like it could be just a temporary solution. Just wondering if people have had surgery to correct mechanics like that?
thanks
