The rolling glacial terrain of the Birkebeiner trail challenged us for 2:2o. 14 miles, in preparation for the Birkie trail relay.
health to all ladies and gents!
here it is:
friday: brisk jog on grass and javelin throws
saturday: long barefoot walk
sunday: 13.2km race in Montevarchi near Arezzo, mostly nice smooth asphalt, barefoot in high 54 mins, mighty satisfying considering there was a long uphill and even longer downhill which i could go down only so fast in order to avoid abrasion. Feet, tendons, ligaments fine. Calves expectedly a little tight. at the end they were giving out beer mugs with a couple of blondes double malt. Looking good to go further than 14.290km at the 1 hour time trial next saturday.
monday: vicious bike commuting all over, up and down town. 18x100m strides routine with 100m recovery barefoot exercises on grass, plus 1 frisky 400m at the end just to do it...the track was packed with athletes of all ages and sizes... an encouraging site

And no, I'm not a troll.
So, you ARE a troll?
You barefooters are a marvel. I see the Amish children sprinting around our neighborhood and it sure works for them. A hardy "hats off" to all who can master the art.
5 easy miles around Wildwood park. Chatted with another Dad, comparing notes on the trail run we both had done last Sat.
35:00 on recumbent bike on Monday.
3km uptempo run and stretches, yesterday.
Today: waiting on the plumber to get my sump pump fixed as it's tropical storm season.
Oh well...
more experimental enthusiasm
yesterday: 1 hr swim. had not fully digested the tuna pasta but otherwise felt good.
today: bike to track (25 mins). barefoot, 18x100m with 100m recovery foot exercises warm up sequence on grass, done intensely. Then in vibram 5Fs (tartan really hot) 3x(5x200m) averaging 38s with a 2 minute "stretching" rest (as in stretch during the long recovery.) Bike to work. Will bike home.
I did it with this very gracious, gentlelady named Barbara. I thought it would be a walk (relatively slow, relatively long rest) but as the warm up sequence was quite intense, in the end i was wiped. Feeling great but wiped. The stretching-rest under the midday sun sort of felt like hot yoga... a wild, great day. Wednesday track packed as usual.
Yesterday - 10.5 miles, 4*100 meter strides at ~ 800 race pace, 2*200 at ~1500 race pace.

5 4/10 miles on rolling hills, my longest run since May.
GORGEOUS day to run: sunny and dry with a breeze. These late summer days are the best days to run in new england.
Foot still feels OK.
1.5 hr barefoot walk in the park
Yesterday, ran out of steam. No run.
AM.10k loop easy 53:44,
reassuring to see the flaming spammer is gone, and letsrun prevails.
Yesterday PM; 3.5 miles with the CC team.Concluded the workout with some form drills and strength exercise. Kids enjoyed splashing in the puddles left by the much needed 3/4 inch of rain.
18x100m warm up sequence on grass
Racing tomorrow. yeah.
2 3/4-mile up-tempo run on my favorite rolling hills route.
30' on the treadmill yesterday....nursing a tight calf....also working way too much......now coming down with a cold.....back on the roads/trails tomorrow?....if i can breathe...
11 miles 2 days ago easy
Yesterday - 9 miles, 6 *400 meter hills
Today - going to be 4 AM, 9 PM
best wishes for your 2:25.
Time to race.
Festive fall colors across Michigan's UP greeted 18 eclectic souls toeing the line at the most laid back marathon I know of. It takes 9 and a half loops around Wakefield's Sunday Lake to rack up the 26.2 miles.
The pace is conversational as most are using it as a tune up for a target marathon later this fall.
1:40 through the half, coasted in with 3;37 at the end.
The tie-dyed T-shirt theme pictures 3 aged turtles yakking away during a run. Right on.
