Still running, still dreaming!! Base building continues. Clocked in with 65' yesterday over slightly undulating terrain. Feeling good!
Keep up the good work, all!

3 mile walk/sneaking some short jogs in/ on hills.
Seeing Podiatrist on Tuesday, hopefully I will be ready to run by Wed.
4 miles under cover of darkness. 50 F and no wind.
34 minutes to realize this is beginning to feel like fall.
thought about running, but didn't. that puts my consectuive days of not running streak at 543.
Yesterday - 4 miles up Cadillac Mountain in Maine - 30:10 (sea level - 1000ft gain)
Today - 12 miles in 1:23:40; 2miles warmup in 15:10, 6 miles at tempo pace over hills(6:53, 6:31, 6:08, 6:25, 5:58, 6:20), mile at MP 7:13, 2 cooldown in 15:07, 7:49 shakeout to finish
I need to get my pacing back to where it used to be.
Blogspot by Dave Elger on Running, Racing and Training, touches on pacing. Daniels type tempo run compared to intervals and evaluated. Tell me what you think.
will have to check it out.
yesterday: 1h10mins barefoot in the park, easy
today: 50 minutes, beach, really working on pushing on the soft sand.
Then swim, and exercises (on not enough sleep due to olympic binge... still so far so good, looking forward to some sleep.)
Mowed the lawn in one shot, just under and acre in 1:55:00.
Self-propelled mower...does that count at least as a resistance workout?
Podiatrist appointment tomorrow. D-day.
Feel like a hypochondriac lately. Now my back is tight.
Suffered through 3 miles with the CC team this AM. Stretching and abs work to top it all off.
I need to get back in some kind of routine.
Hoping the Doc has a green flag in his bag , gonzo.
1. Biopsy came back negative: no prostate cancer. (RELIEF)
2. Ran 10:00 on the treadmill at the PT with NO PAIN. Go figure. Therapist is holding me to very conservative pace but 10-minutes painless is 10-minutes painless.
3. Appointment with podiatrist in one hour.
Will it be 3 for 3 today?
Sounds like you have had quite a week, hoping for you it will be 3 for 3.
Mother of God, to think you had such a thing like you related in another thread hanging over you!!
That's why I'm advocating getting tested when you hit 40, my friend; my story is not the only one in that book.
Get tested guys. Don't fool around.
By the way: it WAS 3 for 3. I'll be running again after work tomorrow!!!
:)
20x200 45sec recovery in 30s last 5 faster.
I see the Dr. every year, had a scare nearly four years ago for something different...not a sun worshipper any more !!
gonzo, 3 Cheers.
CC team went up to Timm's Hill with us coaches and got familiar with the trails. 5 miles total distance with 4x's 300 yds. up a 200' hill embedded in the middle of things.
Either these kids are getting faster, or I have to admit to losing some of my step over the last year.
Inside my 57 year old head a voice keeps calling out"What the hell is happening ?"
Way to go-Nzo!
For the record gentlemen,
had my urologist check my 45-year-old prostate for the first time last june. And, i am very grateful, she said it was just fine.
today: was planning to bike commute to work after some major house cleaning, but i got a flat after 250meters so i sort walked, jodgged it in barefoot. No problem except for some delay.
yesterday: total rest, i even napped
monday: beach, about 50 minutes; easy out and summer-of-malmoed on the way back. Swim stretch, eat seafood pasta. Went out for pizza with a friend for dinner: cycled there, cycled back.
I have lost some weight.
That's that sneaky Father Time jumping on your back.
He's nasty, too.
Wait a minute 'the point could be':
You have a FEMALE urologist? Hmmmm, that raises the issue of should you ENJOY the experience??
Gotta think about that one.
First running day:
400 meter walk
stretches
1 easy mile
more stretches
400 meter recovery walk
one aside: some active duty US Army kids were with their sergeant who was coaching them for their PT requirements. one youngster was first getting a tutorial on situps, then TRIED to run a mile, with predictable results...1:28 first 1/4 then fell off the cliff.
the sergeant watched me pass his recruit or underling or whatever they call them with an amused expression.
keep running you old timers!
USA USA USA
gonzo,
i went to my medical facility and that's who i found. it was the first time ever i was visited by a urologist. you make it sound like it might have been a perverted impostor. i suppose there should only be women gynos by the same logic.
eitherway, you may want to think further about the issue of pleasure as a function of its origin as opposed to who delivers it...
indeed, fingers are without gender. competence is key.
today: bike commute. first race will be saturday 09/13, 1 hr relay time trial on track.
Weds. 2 miles with the Cc team @ 7:45 pace. A rest day prior to the first meet of the season.
Thurs. team pulled off a decent effort,(for them) finishing 4th in a 7 team field. It was their first legit win in 3 years. Several PR's and 2 headcases in the mix.
Meets are the usual fartlek type afternoon. Coaches trying to get some mile splits, and encourage the kids at as many points as feasible.
Ditto on the "competence is key "comment. Same gal for three years in a row now on my end. Best of all her approach to an annual physical allows for dialogue, as opposed to the monologue our former MD was so sold on delivering.
