PRO-Stretch: what is it? (will google-it later)
Today: so i am walking in Villa Pamphili park at 1pm (blazing hot!) and decide to go barefoot, just you know, to keep soles busy... kinda walking, looking where i put my feet, absorbed in my thoughts... and suddenly this runner in the opposite direction thrusts a dust-clouded "Ciao" at me.
So i recognize him from a race when I beat him (and came an amazing-for-me third, barefoot on grass) in the winter.
We share a couple of laughs over his claim that i was bbquing my feet, and so not to stop catching up - he just became a father - i start running with him for a solid, effortless, 45 minutes on what i realized later was totally dried, caked out, cracked, rock solid ground with burned grass, pine needles and gravel all over.
It was awesome. Almost didn't notice. And my feet were fine at the end.
If I have ever had a profund running desire, it is to be able to take off like an animal at will, when scared, or just for play. In this case, to follow a simile.
Then I went to the chin-up bar on the VITA course and hung-stretched to dry after a make-shift shower under the water fountain. "Nasoni" we call them here as in "big noses" of fresh, chilly, quenching water that put me in heaven.
If i dont get injured it should be a great season. First race is going to be a 12x1hr on the track. Looking to beat last year's 14,290m.
Looking forward to Olympic T&F.
