And still is. 10 seconds slower than Komen's impossible outdoor record is much better than 24 seconds off Bekele's.
Pretty much all of Rupp's best performances have been indoors. Maybe he has trouble with the pressure of big meets.
Might be.
Salazar did say that this past summer Rupp's mileage dropped to much and he lost some endurance, so perhaps that played a role as well. Hopefully he figures it out this year.
V3, I'm not sure what to think about the indoor vs outdoor. AlSal certainly thinks that BU track is as fast as any meet outdoors; and for what it is worth several people that have ran there and commented here on assert that they ran their fastest times there and that the track is very springy and fast.
Not sure if it matters, but Salazar was freaking out over the track during the workout Galen did afterwords saying you can see the springiness of the track.
I do want to mention as well that during the workout Salazar was saying that Galen had not yet done any sort of taper for the 5000, but will be starting his taper now before the 3000. We will see what he runs but Alberto was saying if he had to bet his life on particular numbers he think 8:05/3:49.
