Yeah I agree, if this surge slows and they get back together Meb will be the one paying for it for following in the end and Ryan is playing it smart... finally. I hope for Ryan this happens because I dont really want my prediction to come true, bashing can get pretty harsh.

Anyone know hall's last mile split? He looks bad now, but maybe he's still clicking off 4:50s and in control. If he lost the distance in a mile, he can make it back up in a half marathon, and no way they're holding 430's.
Looks like Meb just knows how to compete at a level like this. Hall seems to get too excited early on, and it just dooms him in the end. Hell of a smart runner Meb is.
Way to cover Meb! Sometimes I don't think it's so much Hall being in front, but he needs to toughen up and and hang in there on the moves. He picks people off at the end, but that's just racing for 3rd, if you want to win you have to cover, then hope being in position late will give you the energy you need.

I'm going to say it again, he's running the same pace. What benefit would he have from wasting energy covering a move that won't succeed?
The correct thing to do would be let them come back, then if he feels like attacking, do it then when they're trying to recover.
