Depends on where you go. Some gain some lose. Usually runners gain weight but either way you come back out of shape

They aren't about to roll over and die from inactivity but riding bikes casually for transportation in no way keeps your cardio up

Not when those 2 years were not spent training and you have to take so much time to get back into shape

You could do the same thing except with more advantages if you wanted. Don't be a mormon and go into the Peace Core and train for two years that way you don't suffer the DISADVANTAGE that mormon athletes do from serving missions and losing fitness and you can also have your 2 year physical maturity advantage
